TOMIMOTO

Why on earth did he choose to use an R6?? He would have made it a lot easier for himself if he used an on/offroad bike, but than again maybe he was looking for a real challenge.

Dude's mental! :?

I am now inspired! I'm going to go around the world on my trials bike!   or a scooter... or a Segway HT...

Sjaak had previous covered 160,000km around the world on a CBR900.  Took him 3 years and 7 days => 145 km / day... similar milage to some people's daily commute - I'll just imagine travelling to exotic places every morning when I ride to work...

Curse him! Now I'm having this fantacy of packing my bags, hauling them down to a BMW dealer on my GS, trade it in and get a F650 Dakar & all the accessory I need, load them up, and break in the bike on my way to Yukon, then Alaska, NWT... on and on and come back when the warranty expires.

VersOne

yes yes... I met that guy at the Rock store like about a month ago.  He was selling some postcards from his trip.  He had about 135,000miles when I saw him. CRAZY.

I drove cross country in my truck with 2 other buddies in 2001.  It was an awesome trip from NJ to FL to TX to Vegas to Cali and then back to NJ...I will def do it again one day.  Possibly on a bike instead though?  ;o)

Not promoting wheelies or reckless behavior since Im perfectly happy with my GS500F's TWO wheels on the ground at ALL times...but this guy is also pretty sick...Im sure he will be hamburger meat sometime soon.  Think its all on the NJ Garden State Parkway up in North NJ...His buddy on the CBR...wearing jeans doing this.  Even bigger moron...

large file, but on a quick server.

Great video - and I thought springtime potholes in Minnesota were bad!

Reminds of a book I read a few months ago when the bike was still in winter hibernation...Check out:

Long Way Round: Chasing Shadows Across the World (2004) by Ewan McGregor (Yes; that Obiwan) & Charley Boorman.

It aptly describes the need for offroad practice and preparation before such a trip. Also a few colorful tales of the heavily armed locals they met through eastern Europe and the 'stans of Asia.

As for me; I think that four corners ride of the lower 48 sounds like a great ride!

"There is a tide in the affairs of men,
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omited, all the voyage of their life is bound in the shallows and in miseries...
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures." - The Bard about 1595

The best three months of my life were on a motorcycle traveling from Seattle to Amherst Massachusetts - by way of Cabo Mexico, Grand Canyon, Austin TX, and Key West FL.  Never a stright line and never on Interstates, a tent, sleeping bag and camp stove on back of my '82 Honda V45 750 Sabre.  It was just an awesome trip.

Ahhh, the memories.
