I use the K&N filter. If you cant find one for your '04 the '02 will work.

Which one to get will be determined by what you have or want to do....
stock exhaust ---> drop-in w/ airbox
aftermarket exhaust ---> pods w/o airbox

Some have complained about the K&N lunchbox (RU-2970) sucking in water during rides in the rain. It will allow the greatest air flow. Individual pods willl function the same way.

Rejet will be needed either way since you are allowing for more air flow and the bike is a little lean from the factory.
Common sense in not very common.

Do the pods have any advantage over the lunchbox?

No. They flow basically the same amount.

OK I dunno what he was saying ... but if you have stock pipe keep the stock or UNI or K&N in air box with restrictor ... if you got pipe ... then stock or UNI or K&N in air box or K&N lunch box ... all are options ... maybe that's what he was saying ... :mrgreen:
Cool.

You can take the restrictor ring out of it with aftermarket exhaust if you rejet. He was probably talking about maximizing the performance. I mean, if you have a full system exhaust, you may as well get the most out of it by rejetting and getting rid of the airbox, right?

well i am rejetting in the near future. thats why im gettin all the shaZam! together and asking questions. i was planning on going with the K&N drop in or possibly a uni because those seem like less expensive options. also i dont want to deal with water since i do ride in the rain. annnd also i read that most of the restriction is from the pipe, which ihave already replaced, not the airbox.

From what I understand, you can use an aftermarket exhaust with the drop-in filter. When you are rejetting, take out the restrictor ring.

Juno is right. I have a V&H full exaust and a drop in K&N filter. I re-jetted (don't tell my insurance company) :mrgreen: ... and it works like a charm.
