well, right now I'm mainly running xp, but should have more free time in the near future to play with some of my other comps.  In terms of other linux flavor's I've been using gentoo primarily, I have it loaded on my sparc right now, and did have it on one some others..

there is an ip addy using linux that you can set to your pc, that way if someone tries to hack your system they succeed only in hacking themselves :dunno:

'doze 98.  It was free.  When this box craps out I have 4 more on the shelf to replace it.  Gotta love a society at the computer saturation point!
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Been a Mac user since I first got a comp.  My sister has one, my parents have two, an iMac and an iBook.

PC guys are just jealous that we get all the cool iNames and subtly cool sleek lines.

I'm extra jealous that you get all the latest games only 3 months after I've already finished them.

AND

I'm extra jeaslous that your computer costs twice as much as mine.

Very very jealous

I've run various distros on and off since high school, I like Slackware the most.

yamahonkawazuki, are you talking about something like this? 127.0.0.1 is a loopback address, not a valid public IP. Every computer (no matter what OS they run) uses 127.0.0.1. You can't use it as your IP on the Internet; you have to have a valid, unique class A, B or C address.

I like my mac. I do agree that it's a bit overpriced, but I enjoy it nonetheless.

I loved C64.  I wish I never sold it.

My first PC was a C64.  Got it when I was 6 and starting writing small BASIC programs on it that my dad taught me.  I programmed my first violent video game on it too.  When you ran it it would scroll up a smiley face created with ASCII chars, then you'd hit the fire button on the joystick and a gunshot sound would go off and then another smiley face would scroll up, this time with a hole in its head.     It was cooler than Doom!  Yeah yeah, I was a geek even back then.

But back on topic, I'm dual booting Win XP and Fedora Linux right now.   I've been trying out some different distros, seeing which I like best.

I don't know much about Linux/Unix. Can you run windows programs on it?

Yes, it requires the use of wine, but with wine installed you can, for more info on wine, check out their website at:  http://www.winehq.com/
