:bs:   Alright you got me.  I was just testing the waters to see how bad I could get assaulted by you guys... I thought you guys would lay into me a little harder than that though - But I'm glad to see that you care enough to discourage a new rider from a bike like that... very commendable!  I actually have a GS and am very happy with it - great bike and lots of fun.  I wouldn't even dream of getting on a bike like the RC51 until I had at least a few years experience.  Thanks for being such a great group of people.  By the way, I'm nearly 30... not the 16 as claimed.... Now please don't  :guns:  me!

My hunch was right...Pandy is the biggest Post Whore!

Aw, and I was going to suggest you lengthen the swingarm on the turbo 'busa so you couldn't turn.

you know, that's interesting.  i was under the impression (i think from my msf class) that the majority of mc accidents are single-vehicle... i guess i was wrong
Reading that changed my mind about a bunch of things...

I wasn't going to take the MSF class...   :nono: I was going to ride around without a moto-endorsement...   :nono: I was going to get a 3/4 helmet...   :nono: I wasn't going to get a motorcycle jacket... :nono:

Good thing I read it...   I guess I'm not as smart as I thought! ;)

yeah... it states "24. The motorcycle riders involved in accidents are essentially without training; 92% were self-taught or learned from family or friends. Motorcycle rider training experience reduces accident involvement and is related to reduced injuries in the event of accidents. "

but fails to elaborate the percentage of people on the road that are self or family taught... if that were 92" (which i doubt it is) as well... than the couses would hold no advantage

I'm not saying MSF is bad... I took it and I'm glad I did... you just have to read into statistics like these before you make your decisions.
82 GS850GL..... yeah i kinda sold out

I've been riding since '86, self-taught, did California Superbike School in '88, and raced in '90; the MSF course I took in '93 was the best thing that ever happened in my riding career.

Just for fun, I'm going to say, "He who lives by statistics, will die a statistic".

I'd been riding a little before the class...  But, I have to say that it was GREAT to take the class...  I was doing several things wrong and would have ended up a statistic for sure.

Hey, good news for all you speed freaks; it says the one in a thousand occurance of accidents is over 85 mph! Keep flyin' in the wind, only one in a thousand of ya is gonna bite it. :)  Love the motorcycle we call the GS500, Louisiana (do cops there really look for out of state vehicles?), and this forum.

I had a feeling this post was a joke from the start when I saw that the person's username was "grasshopper". That just seemed too ironic for me.
