up on the little north fork of the siantiam river, didn't catch anything, but still had a good time.  it was teh first time I had a flyrod out in years.
the river,

right out in front of me,

right behind me, a old mining shaft, I had left my flashlight in the truck or I whould have been exploring in there.

i looked up at the water dripping down the rocks, it was really peacefull and soothing.

Oh, yes they do! I've seen them swim over a rock up out of the water to hit my lure! Using an ultralight spinning rod makes them feel like bass on a medium bait casting pole.

Yeah I'm envious of the nice trout streams you Northern guys have, I'm definitely a river rat at heart...  I'll still take a spotted bass pound for pound for the fight...  But NO lake fish can compare to the fight of a river fish, all that current makes 'em stronger

If you had caught something....where would you carry trout on a GS500?

Clean it there by the river, season, wrap in tinfoil and stuff it behind the cylinders. It'll be ready by the time you get home.
