I just installed mine a yesterday and the fit of the flange was very nice i was suprised (no offense srinath), but i unbolted the entire system to gain access to the midpipe, used a cutoff wheel at the midpipe and bolted everything back together took an hour and thats on an 04f removing the fairing also.  On a naked it would be even easier

The Buddha

OK pics ... OK ... 1-2 days ... before you all get it.
Cool.

Is it possible to cut the exhaust pipe while on the bike, or is it best to remove the entire system?

Yeah, what do you guys use to cut the pipe?  I was gonna just use a sawzall with a blade for metal....

The Buddha

I use pipe cutters ... a bit slower and more muscle power ... but cleaner cut ... and exhaust off ... BTW isn't it time to paint the freaking thing ... looks like it is every other month ...
Cool.

Im sooo stoopid ... These flanges fit in the Larger 2 day and priority mail boxes ... No need to get that exclusive elusive tube crap ... They didn't fit ... but I guess the old ones were cranked up so high they had more of a angled in the wrong way ... so didn't fit ... Off to score a few 100 from Staples and out it goes USPS ...
Cool.

Yea and the trick tool I made with it ... when a cutting wheel gets blunt ... take it off and grind out to a thicker edge ... then you use it to shrink tubing ...
Cool.

OK I sent you a choker ... OK ... anyway ... put it on a hard surface ... like driveway and knock it in a shade ... then use the claw end of the hammer and open it ... 2-3 times later ... you should be claw it open nearly out like a book ... so then use pliers and wiggle it out.
BTW that was damn fast ... UPS is getting their act together ...
Cool.

Anybody got a picture of the C- Cut on the header?
**No matter where you go, There you are.**

The Buddha

Cozy ... that is old flange ... of whihc I swapped oput all of them from people ... the header should be cut down at the bottom ... on an 89-00 cut about 4 inches out from the weld at the bottom where headers join to 1 pipe ... and then slide on ... remember ... you can always cut more but cannot re join ... The mid pipes that say "Old" on it ... anyone that has got one of those ... has the choice of cutting the header exactly where they like to fit the mid pipe ... You first try 4-5 inches ... fit it on ... if its too far back ... start cutting closer ... make sure its not hitting stuff ... and have it as tight as you want ... A flange that says new ... or says nothinbg on it ... the flange is longer than what it needs to be ... just a shade ... so cut it where ever and put it on. On 01+ bikes ... you have to cut the larger dia pipe off completely and fit it on the smaller pipe ... so not options there ... Some pipe were just a shade shorter than ideal ... I have an 89-00 ... not a 01+ hence I had to assume and sometimes I was a little too low on the length ... so those shorter flanges are ideal for 89-00 for a tight fit.
Cool.
