Hi, new here. Name's Martin and I'm located in Denmark. I ride a '99 SV650S daily and have a '98 GSX-R600 for track. I also have an old Honda XL600R that is currently in pieces because I'm motarding it - and this is where the GS500 comes into play ;)

My plan is to mount a GS500 front wheel (instead of the stock narrow 21" rim) and a GS500 swingarm with wheel, brake and all (the XL has a rear drum brake so I can't just fit the wheel). This way I can run some proper rubber (Metzeler Sportecs in 110 and 150) instead of the crappy enduro tires that are all that's available for the stock rims.

Now I need some measurements - I expect some work to make the parts fit, but you can do a lot with different bearings and spacers. I need:

- Front rim width at the bearings
- Front axle thickness
- Swingarm width at the pivot point
- Swingarm pivot axle thickness
- Swingarm width at the inside of the wheel axle
- Distance from center of rear wheel to sprocket

I'll keep you updated on the progress - with pics

Thanks

Unless someone else can sooner, I can get you those dimensions later tonight. I have all those parts lying around.

Interesting idea.  :thumb:

Great, thanks :thumb:

BTW, being new around here, I thought I'd post a couple of pics of my bikes - don't have any of the XL but I'll take some this weekend and along the way.

150 rears dont fit well on gs500 rear rims. look for an 88-89 gsxr750 (not 1100) rear wheel or a bandit 400 wheel instead. either of these can be made to fit the gs500 swingarm. Check my site for more info on the wheel swap.

Here are the dimensions requested:

- Front rim width at the bearings : 89mm
- Front axle thickness : 15mm
- Swingarm width at the pivot point : 214mm
- Swingarm pivot axle thickness : 17mm
- Swingarm width at the inside of the wheel axle : 214mm
- Distance from center of rear wheel to sprocket : 92mm

Bandit 600 wheel (4.5") works too.

Martin
you don't really want the GS swingarm
use your stock XL/XR? swing arm
get a nice RGV250 rear wheel and brake assy(20mm axle)
since you can get them there......
and adapt it to your swing arm

re doing shock linkages is a pain in the butt
want Iain's money to support my butt in kens shop
