look at it this way, i had a seperated shoulder with torn tendons while they were scrubbing it out. I was using this arm to cover my face, kidna grunting into my arm before i told her to take the leg, lol. I seriously could not even feel the pain in my arm.

The one time I had a bad wreck with no gear was pretty gruesome. I had to have grafts on my left arm...it was down to the bones and ligaments. There were a lot more injuries (thought I might lose the left foot) but the left arm was not fun. And like Davipu says, everytime you move it breaks back open...in your sleep you hit it and wake up screaming. Like everybody says; wear the gear ATT. 'Course you have the right to wear shorts and sandals and a tank-top if you wish. Btw, when the guy was scrubbing my arm and stuff I finally just told him to let me do it myself...it's easier to tell when to let up just a little  :) . Love the White Owl, Five civilized tribes (Chata hapia hoke), and this forum.

it's odd, around here i'm the only rider i've seen in recent memory who wears a jacket. it's like riders in newark are alergic to protective gear.

but i've always got my jacket and helm.

i just saw a guy going the other way today on a ninja 500 wearing shorts, a tank top, sunglasses, and a backwards baseball hat.  :nono:

must be one of thoes new DOT approved baseball hats......
The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

These are the people that bring about legislation to save us from ourselves. We need to regulate our own before we get regulated.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

i have had road rash before, on my arm leg and alittle on my shoulder.  I hit an oil spot in a turn, the rash on my are was about a foot long and 4 inches wide and same on my leg.  On my shoulder it was just red and sorta scuffed not real bad.  I was wearing a regular shirt and shorts at the time, I know stupid, but i was only going about 30 and thats what happened.  I thought nobody saw me which was good, but when i pick up the bike and look around there are people that are laughing, also when I was riding back this car full of girl started making fun of me cause they saw my arm was dripping blood.     :thumb:

Actually that chick that crashed was Gixxie from www.stuntlife.com. She knew exactly what she was doin, she does it every day. Which is what makes it that much more absurd.

the movie didnt work but are yall talking about the zx7 when the girl slides off the back?

My Name Is Dave

It's hard to see, but watch that video over and over and focus on her arms. It never looks like she is holding onto him. When she falls it looks like she's pushing herself off. Of course she's not though, because nobody's that stupid...

Road rash sucks. I had some from a bicycling accident when I was 12... (very high speed slide down a rough concrete hill, took months to heal)... enough to make me never want to experience it again.

Now, as far as that heat goes: put your jacket back on, and try this: get a cloth wet with cool water, and wrap it around your neck under your helmet/jacket. It will keep you pretty cool.

Another thing to note: when air temps get up around body temps, your body's basic cooling system doesnt really help. You'll be just as hot with the jacket on as without. Wearing a wet shirt under your jacket will help, a lot.
