Its almost been a year since I bought my first ever street bike a 97 GS500 as my SOLE vehicle... a month after I bought it I proper fooked it !!! I thought I was done riding cause I didnt have the finances or the know how to fix the bike .... but members of the local bike community helped me fix it literally piece by piece till it was barely rideable ... I rode it EVERYDAY no matter wot the weather ... as parts broke/failed I replaced them best I could ... in the beginning of this year I went on vacation for a month and left the bike at a friends place ... a few of them got together bought 3 parts bikes and assembeled a proper running GS from all 4 bikes .... the only thing from my original GS is the engine and wheels ... I recently bought another bike (no car yet) and due to some mishaps its out of commision for now ... but I still have my GS ... have put ~12000 miles since I bought it ... this weekend shall be my first track day on it ... The GS has been my commuter, only mode of transportation, twisties carver and now it'll be my track bike too ... the only mods done to the bike are :5/8" Srinath fork brace, progressive springs, braided steel brake line, Organic brake pads and a 15 tooth front sprocket .... I have a touring windscreen for commuting but its been taken off for the track day ... there is no "moral" to my rant but just wanted to share to with the folks how truly bad ass a GS is  :) ... there have been days when R6s and Gixxers had a tough time keeping up with me in the mountains (the point that the riders suck is irrelevant :D) ... dont ever let anyone punk on your GS ...
