The rain has stopped!  Had to celebrate.

After a brutal 12 hour day in my effing cubicle I decided to just get lost.  I headed west out of Minneapolis on Hwy 7 and wove thru the various bays and inlets of Lake Minnetonka.  Eventually I escaped the lake and headed west into the sunset on an empty, winding road.  I have no idea where I was -- just headed north when the sun set  toward what I hoped was hwy 12 and a direct route home.  It was hwy 12, and just in time as I was about out of gas.

Beautiful road, cool evening breeze, complete absence of traffic.  Nights like these are the reason I bought a bike and learned to ride - nothing else comes close to the freedom and inspiration of being on an open road and in complete harmony with the machine.

Time to find a map and figure out where I was so that I can visit there again. Hennepin county 15 west, 92 north, and 6 north or east or something.  I'll post again when I figure it out. Until then, happy riding all, and keep the shiny up!

go west for two hours then take the next left, then the next left, right , left  straight, turn around, left again, right again, left three times, two illigal u turns, stop for a beer, (soda for the rest of you) then go south for 20 minutes stop to pee, go left at the next town, and then go east.

just follow those directions and see if you get lost.

Those road numbers sound feasible.  Perhaps THIS MAP will help?

That helps me... I sailed in a regatta on Minnetonka when I was 16.  I forgot it was so close to Minneapolis.  It was a really nice area and that lake was nice and big.  I got 8th place in that regatta so I was pretty happy.

As always, Kerry is right on the money with the map.

That whole pie-slice west of the lake and between HWY's 12 on the north and 7 on the south seems to be full of twisty county roads with 55mph limits.  Every mile or two there was another decent looking road winding off into the hills.  Had I not been lost and losing daylight, would have explored them all.

Now that I left my bike in the dreaded P position all day at work, I need go buy a charger so that I can ride again this weekend.
