Im tired of fixing motorcycles/atvs  anyone wanna re-assmeble all this

10 yr old son blew the transmission on his quad- its now in pieces on the work bench waiting on parts

13yr old fried the starter then broke the recoil starter on his quad-- its now in pieces on a cart waiting on parts

both sons decided to ride the gocart without checking oil and locked up motor -- no room to take it apart yet-- got to get something back together first

neighbors kid cracked the case on his dirtbike -- its now in pieces on my garage floor waiting on jb weld to harden.

I broke the carbs on the gs -- now in pieces on garage floor waiting on parts

neighbors kid asked to ride my dirt bike and blew a seal in the transmission..  its behind the garage leaking oil in a drip pan..

when it rains it pours--  I used to like wrenching but this is getting ridiculous
oops,  you'll need a new one of them

wow... that is alot of broken.
The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

DAMN!  Wrenching is fun when it's to relieve stress, but not when it causes more stress!

Just grab a beer and

Dang, I feel left out.  I haven't had anything to fix since the chain saw locked up and the water heater sprang a leak last week.

It's a pretty cool club with some very elite members.  Our favorite pastime is to not ride when it's beautiful out because our bikes are in, ummmm . . . . . . . pieces.

if i let the 10 and 13 yr old fix their mistakes i'll have more to do.  came home from work today and was told the swimming pool has a leak-  found 7 small hole so far then a storm hit-  found out my gutters were clogged when the water came in through the sliding door  -  gotta go mop now..  I think we're gonna sell everything and move to a cave in the mountains.   nothing mechanical or electronic to break!!!!
oops,  you'll need a new one of them

2 1/2 down 2 1/2 to go.

fixed both the electric starter and pull starter on 1 quad,  fixed the kid next doors bike.  have the engine back together for the second quad just has to be put back in.  Now all I need is carbs for the gs then I have room to take apart the gocart.  WOOOHOOO.   better not cheer to loud they'll hear me and brake something else

you gotta start them somewhare.   and the investment in them at this age will be immeasurable in a couple years.

ktrim

both kids are extremely mechanically inclined.  the problem is they have not learned to take there time.  usually in the rush tofix stuff they end up breaking something else.   I'm working on that with them now.  On of the neighbor kids just dropped of another quad (he wants my 13 yrold to fix it)  dont really know whats wrong with but Ifigured I'd let hime mess with it for a few days to see what he can do.  he seems tobe on the right track,  I could smell bad gas from across the yard.  My sone had already drained the tank and was disassembling the carb.  Guess well see what happens

My GS is getting closer. The GS850 needs the wiring in  the fairing redone, tires and a seat cover. My TX650 needs the tank cleaned and the headlight put on. My Triumph chopper in is pieces. My BMW R75 needs fork seals, exhaust, battery, tires, the usual. Just not enough hours in the day when you work 6-7 days a week. Need to get some of these done, so I can get rid of them.
1990 GS500, 1979 GS850, 1974 TX650, 1972 BMW R/75/5, 1972 Triumph chopper. All in various stages of repair.
