Now that I have your attention..

What should I use to clean my carbs with?

and

I read Srinaths FAQ on Kreeming my tank, but what is the "acid" he describes which derusts the tank?

auto carb cleaner de/gunker works great HOWEVER keep it off/away from rubber o-rings/seals and plastic floats....It tends to dissolve them

I heard diesel fuel and denaturated alchol also work good

so does simple green and an air compressor :P

Now, why would you want to sandblast small orifices like jets and the small passageways in the carb body?

Remove all the rubber before you use the carb cleaner (B-12 Chemtool).
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

Yamaha carb cleaner and gas ... if you wanna do it on the bike ... fill a little tank like a radiator overflow tank and fill the bowls with it ... Will work only in the float bowl. Not if slides or butterflies are clogged ...
Fill the bowls with that and shake a few times over the course of a day or 2 ... then drain the bowls and re connect to tank, fill with fresh gas and flush it through the floats a few times.
If apart - soaking it in the gas + yamaha cleaner mix for 24 hours followed by opening up and lightly brushing, spraying carb cleaner etc will go it, even for butterflies and slides. Of course diesel is great for the outside of the carbs ... I alternate between diesel and gas ... Diesel has good penetration power and is a decent lubricant ... so stuck parts are easy to break free with diesel.

I use Suzuki carb cleaner, air compressor, a small brush, and guitar string (to get in the tiny pipes :) ... The suzuki cleaner  is way more potent than Gum out. Also like everyone else stated.. be sure to remove all the rubber. but dont take the two carbs apart from each other! Watch for the small rubber O-rings in the top of the carbs.

The Kreem stuff:

 If you buy the whole kit together..Its a 3 step. it comes with an acid to etch the tank, another bottle (I think a neutraliser) and the kreem itself.
Its a pretty easy process :) I used it in my tank and it worked good :)

Kreem kit has no neutraliser ... second bottle is acetone ... in faaaar too small a quantity to help ... Its supposed to neutralise with water ... not too bad but ... I prefer super hot water and baking soda ... I therefore dont buy the kit. Hydrochloric acid ... acetone and the liner itself.

As far as carb cleaning I completely disassembled mine and soaked them in kerosene overnight. They were extremely clean after that but I'm not sure how well the kerosene would work on varnished carbs.
