Well, im having some problems getting rid of the stickers on the fairing and stuff    you know, the ones that say things like 'warning, do not attach stuff to fairing..' etc etc.

These stickers come with new bikes and I have like 2 of these stickers on the fairing, another one on the frame, and I think another one somewhere else.

They are kinda... sticky  :P  so they won't come off just like that.
Anything I can apply to remove em without damaging the body?  :dunno:

my nails hurt now.

But, they look so cool!!!  I still have my tank "WARNING" sticker on.  I'm the envy of all my friends.

I feel like wearing a new shirt with tags hanging out (specially at the stop lights when people are watching)

I used to leave the price tags on all my paintball gear...  People always thought I just bought it and that I was a total Newb.

Then they'd get smoked...  Muahahahaha.

try "Goo-b-gone" or some denatured Alcohol... to remove adhesive. Sometime a hair dryer to warm it up before you peel works good too.

BE CAREFUL when removing stickers!!!

i was at a friends house for the holiday and she asked why i still had the warning stickers on the bike - i never really thought to remove them until she said something. so i started to peel them off thinking 'its just a sticker, it will come right off'

WRONG!  :x

when i started to peel the tank sticker, i only managed to get the 1st layer of clear plastic off, the main sticker with the wording remained on the tank. once the 1st clear layer is removed the top of the sticker is sticky and the entire sticker is brittle and will break up in little pieces when trying to peel it. if you start to peel, try to get the entire sticker, not just the 1st clear layer. i had to get a razor blade to S-L-O-W-L-Y raise the sticker off the tank without scratching the paint. PHEW - i did it!

the right side fairing sticker was in the sun, it was more pliable and just peeled right off - no problems.

the left side fairing sticker was in the shade and did not peel off at all - i tried the razor blade and dug too deep and scrapped off the paint.

aaaaaahhhh  :?

now i am at a loss at what to do - look for matching paint or find a cool looking suzuki type sticker to cover up the scrape?!

goo-gone worked perfectly to remove any sicky residue, then windex and then applied wax.

I have always used a hair dryer to soften them before trying to peal them off.
Common sense in not very common.

I used the hair dryer too. It was a snap. Just warm the sticker enough and then try to peel it off with your nails. One of the sticker left some residue, which I removed with Oops cleaner from Walmart. From my previous experience, I believe 3M glue remover is much better (3X more expensive though) but I couldn't find it.

another thing that you can use to remove sticker residue is WD-40.  It is safe for the paint and the fiberglass.  I used it all the time to remove unwanted bumper stickers from my peel-S 86 chevy cavalier which had fiberglass bumpers.

Handy tip:  Never use a scraper harder than that which you're scraping -- that way if you get too enthusiastic, it'll be your scraper that gets damaged.

I'd recommend a cheap plastic paint scraper or something similar -- I actually used an ice scraper to lift my tank sticker.  The actual sticker came off easily, I had a lot of trouble with the adhesive residue and an outline of what appeared to be built-up wax.

I've been told tank stickers are actually clearcoated, so the spot where the sticker used to be might be a little less protected now. Is that true for the GS?

mastrind

generally the stickers that are clear coated onto the tank are the "SUZUKI" or "S" style stickers not the warning type stickers.....

ED: Funk, yeah!

Rubbing Alcohol and a soft cotton sock.  The alcohol will strip the the wax off too.  The higher % the better and it will not hurt the paint/clear.  Then just wax over the spot a couple times.

Once the sticker is off, if there is any residual adhiesive, I use ronsonol lighter fluid..

It sounds bad (I thought so too when I first heard about it) but it bonds chemicaly with the resedue and turns it into jelly..

no scrubbing required..
But I would reccommend a warm bath and a good waxing after..

(for the bike)

There is a reason.... Lighter fluid is actually Naptha. It is used to clean surfaces, and somtime thin paint.

WD-40 it loosens them up good just let it set for a min or two , a couple times of letting it set up then take it to the car wash should spray right off, just dont wash your bike while your there thats the worst thing you can do to a bike is pressure wash it

there's so much advice (thanks all  :thumb: ) that on the end, I decided to leave the stickers where they are until they fall by themselves  :P
