Hi there
Has anyone done the M2 exit test in Ontario?  I did my M and M1 a couple years ago and have until 2006 to do my final test.  I was just wondering what it involved?  I will probably take it in London or Kitchener.  Any advice?  I have been told that the earphones they give you are really hard to get under a full face helmet.

I got my G license in Ontario before graduated licensing kicked in and my motorcycle endorsement in NY so I can't be of any specific help, but conventional wisdom says a small office is best (in terms of scheduling and stress).

You've got a lot to choose from:  http://www.drivetest.ca/en/loc/Dec.aspx

I don't quite understand your earphone comment -- are they for communication?  That seems unnecessarily high-tech, what's wrong with honk once for left, honk twice for right?  :)

Hey.  Thanks for the info on the testing centers.  I wish I had got my license before the graduated thing came into effect and yes, the honking idea seems like a better one!  he he

I just took my M2 exit in May (Was going to expire Sept.)...
Went through A Breslau based outfit that is identical to the other Ministry approved training courses (Think Colleges). The best thing about it was that it was A LOT cheaper than going to the College, and yet, you still get the discounts, as well as the amazing training that is worth it's weight gold.

In regards to the earbuds fitting inside your helmet, the earbuds are the same size as an iPod earphone, so believe me, it's no problem at all to hear the chaser, nor does it get in the way of riding.

When it comes to the testing parts...there is a slalom, figure 8's, as well as a crisis management section you will be familiar with when you took your M2 entry test. After some more fun solo, and also group riding and stuff like that, you do the road test. The road test is approx. 30-45 minutes, but doesn't feel like that.

I loved the test - it was a lot of fun, and was real good as a refresher because of the 45,000km worth of bad habits I'd acquired since 2000 when I bought the bike.

Any other questions, feel free to fire away! :thumb: :)

Thanks so much for the info - thats awesome.  What is the actual road test like?  Do they just follow you around town and then out onto the 401 or something like that?

GSRider

They follow you through residential and industrial areas, and then a quick trip on the 7/8-85 ring highway (90kmph posted).

I just passed my M2exit this weekend...took the Humber course and it helped a lot...refreshed my memory and corrected my bad habits...it's worth the money...

as for the test...remember to keep moving your head...look at Every harzard along the road and keep your brake light on at stop lights...also check blind spots when turning left and right and changing lanes...

it's not hard...just ride normally and you'll be fine...

Thanks, you guys have been a big help.  Do they follow you around with a car or a motorcycle?

GSRider

They followed me around in a car. One driver, and one person ordering you around :)

I had to use a earphone/mic communication system for my road test. It hurt like a mad whore under the helmet. But atleast you can talk to the guy.

You guys really have it bad up there! I don't know about other states but here in Arkansas it is not anything to worry about. A ten question written test, if you are getting a motorcycle endorsement added to your cager license, bring your bike up to a line and show them that you know where and how to operate the lights, signals, horn, brake lights. Start the bike and ride into a fenced area where you turn left, right, go though a slalom of traffic cones then a figure eight without putting your feet down. You're done!!  Just don't ride the bike there by yourself without the endorsement or they will write you a ticket right there. No need for MSF unless your insurance company offers you a discount. No wonder there are so many bad accidents, HUH!!! DUHHH!!!. I got my first bike license here at 14. Back then it was avaiable at 13 yrs old, before you could get a car one, which was at 16. Once you were 16 and got a cager license there was no need for a separate endorsement. When I moved back about 10 yrs ago I didn't realize that you now needed the endorsement and just got a new license. They didn't ask about motorcycles so I didn't think to either. If I had they would have just added it because I had it on my Alabama license. Anyway, too long, but I do feel for all of you from somewhere that really takes you to the cleaners just for the privilege of putting yourself out there in front or people that don't, can't, or don't want to see you. That first law of highway physics that states that "gross tonnage equals right of way" is really a bummer. I understand that a lot can be learned in classes that can help save your life, but that physics thing hurts just the same when it happens.
