How to know if Wiley X GS-1 are original?

So I got my Wyley X SG-1 on the mail yesterday. Bought them new (as in 'never used' ) from ebay.

Now my question is: how do I know if they are the real thing?
They are way too light and bend easily... is this normal?
I was almost expecting a 'made in china' logo somewhere, but luckily I found none.

any clues?

You could always apply the '12-gauge shotgun from 10 yards away' test to them. :)

I've owned Bolle tactical goggles and wasn't a fan but haven't tried the Wiley SG1s.  I'd be interested in trying on a pair.

you know what,. I think im gonna shoot some round at em...

I called Wiley X on the phone to see of there was a way to confirm the authenticity of the glasses I got, and they say there's no way to say.
When I told them the price I paid on ebay when I got em (70 dollars) including 4 pair of eyeglasses, she said they were probably stolen by the seller  :o  (they sell the package I got for 200+ dollars)

"... in any case, for all we know you have a pair of original SG-1 Wiley X glasses..." she ended up saying.

i think im gonna get a crate and a gun to shoot some ammo at them and see what happens.

Quote from: RVertigoYou tried them under your visor yet?
yes, actually I did this morning.
they work pretty good to block the glare of the sun, but as mentioned by a user in another thread, there is a little of aberration created with the glasses and the visor. not much, just a little bit.
If you lift the visor, the aberration is gone and vision is perfect.

since I don't have a gun at hand, I guess running them over with the GS would do a similar effect, uh?  :P
I'll let you know if they survive (I need to know, because I must leave feedback for the seller at ebay).

I went to the the local shop this weekend intent on checking out and probably buying the Wiley X SG-1 or XL-1 goggles/glasses.  To my surprise, they look much better in pictures.  For the price ($99 and $125), I was expecting a MUCH better pair of glasses.  The optical quality is very good but that is where most of the money goes IMO.  The ear pieces had poor fit/finish and weren't as comfortable as I was hoping.  The photosensitive lenses are neat but don't get dark enough to blend in with the bulky frames and hide your eyes.  They'll definitely protect your eyes but aside from that, not impressed.

I ended up going to REI (had a gift certificate) and checked out the glasses they had.  I rode so I could see what fit fell under my helmet as well.  I was all set on some polarized Oakley's when I thought I ought to try them on one more time with my helmet and close the shield.  Well it's a good thing I did because it was causing some goofy prismatic designs and rainbows to appear.  I swapped to non-polarized lenses and the issue went away.  Moral?  Try the glasses with your helmet AND shield before buying them!!
