So I bought that FJ I was asking about last week.  Sweet ride, I'll post pics in the next few days; it's now that I realize why some of you guys held onto the GS after upgrading to something bigger.  It's a fun bike, but holy cow is it a handful, 550+/- lbs. 120 HP and 77lb/ft. of torque, it's a damn workout just riding it.  I decided to run out the first three gears after an hour or so of riding(on the freeway), I hit 125mph!!  CRAZY!   And due to the size, it takes a landingstrip to stop the damn thing.  I'm not gonna say it's not as fun as the GS, but I appreciate the GS(and her lack of excessive horsies and weight) a lot more now, that is certain.

yeah, start looking into the YZF front end swap, find out what other brakes you can bolt on, and i think the FJ's had Yamaha's sorry attempt at Anti dive forks, they suck bigtime.  its a matter of getting use to the weight aswell. its a comfortable enough bike specialy 2 up with twin side bags. while it has a fair amount of grunt its pretty predictable.  another word of caution, as you know its heavy, DO NOT SKIMP ON TIRES. what ever you do with the wheels, get good quality rubber. these bikes are not fun in wet with 1/2 life tires. the GS is light enough that its very forgiving. heavy bikes are not as tolerant to traction loss.
Accelerate like your being chased, Corner like you mean it, Brake as if you life depends on it.
Ride Hard...or go home.

Its you Vs the pavement.....who wins today?

Yeah, the back tire is rough as is, so I'm picking up werase's old FZR/YZF rear wheel/tire some time this week hopefully, that should help.  The stock 16" rubber is pretty weak, slipping like crazy above 5k rpms, a nice fat 180/60/17 out back should do it.
