Argh, and I usually am careful about taking a picture before I start work...

One tube has an end here at the rear-bike side of the carbs...

and is pretty long...

The other is a vent tube, terminates on the right-hand side of the fairing, and has a bent hookup end.

Help?  Danke!

davipu

the top one looks like the float bowl atsmophere vent hose, it should just go down the side to the bottom of the fairing.   and the other one looks like the one for the bottom of the airbox.

I'm not familiar with the newer carbs, but on mine there is a vent tube and a tube which connects to the petcock.

On mine, the upper is a vent, and the lower is connected to the petcock.

Hope this helps.

Ok I think the first hose might be the breather hose that attaches to the top of the valve cover to your air box.  The other is the ent tube that attaches to the inderside of your gas tank.  I think.

whoops, I think I misunderstood what you were asking.

davipu, are you sure the top one isn't the vent tube that goes on the top of the valve cover?

I dunno about the second one, though.

OK, I'll buy the first one as a vent tube; there's a hose clamp on top of the airbox that points it down and out in front of the battery compartment.  But the second one... it's definitely a vent (it terminates in a bundle of vent hoses on the right bottom side of the bike), but I need to figure out what it's venting.  There aren't any slots it fits on the airbox.  It almost looks like it snakes up to the top of the carbs...

I think it's the other way around.  I'll go take some picutres when the Simpsons is over.  :)

Is it smaller than the fuel tubes or the same size? Is there a hose on the bottom of the fuel tank near the petcock?

They're about the same size, maybe a smidge larger.  I have the fuel hose from the petcock to the bowl hooked up.
Edit - Oh, you mean the gas tank.  It has the two hoses to the petcock on, but I'll check to see if one of those goes to the tank.

For the sake of being anal, I ment the vent hose that comes off a nipple on the bottom of the tank near the tank petcock (assuming that the 04s have one, too).

I just checked, the first one connects to the fuel tan on one end and hangs low by the rear shock on the other.  The second tube connects to the  air box on the one end and the other by the kick stand.   If  you open the tank lid and look, you'll find a hole on the left hand side of the tank opening, that's basically for overflow and the first tube connects to the end to that at the bottom of the tank.  I took pictures but my filebox is down.  PM me if you'd like them

Yeah that is where the smaller hose with the L on the end goes.  On the nipple that isn't on the petcock but is on the underside of the gas tank.

OK, the tank vent is attached to the L tube, and the other tube is vented to the top rear of the carbs.

How long do y'all typically have to leave it on Prime after draining the carbs?  Search didn't help me... it cranks but doesn't fire yet.

Aerospike, if you're feeling like pictures, do you think you could take one of the top of the carb assembly with the tank lifted?  Just so I can check the rest of what I hooked up - thanks much!

Jazzzzz

assuming your float heights are set ok, you can just leave it on PRI until the engine starts, then flip over to ON

Pictures will have to wait till tomorrow.  It's almost  too dark for pictures on this side of the country, and it's raining.   I'll get some early tomorrow.

OK RG, here's the gospel truth, a scan of the hose routing straight from the Suzuki OEM manual. I had to clip it to fit in my photo album. Save it to your system for reference so I can delete it from my web page.

I will delete it Monday evening so that anyone else with an 04+ can save it. My ISP limits photo uploads to 400k max.

I've saved it.  Thanks, you rock!

Hrm.  That looks like how I have everything routed, but it's still cranking and not starting.

starwalt

The OEM manual also has the routing for the PAIR system, if that is what you have. I don't think that Washington has the requirement like California though.
