Well, I did the poor man's jet just recently because the RPM's wouldn't drop.

I just did the jet yesterday and went out for a quick rip tonight and once the bike is nice and warmed up the RPM's are still not wanting to drop..

I used the #40 and 125 jets along with 1 washer per Carb with the 3 turns out on them each...  Is it something I'm doing wrong?  Is there a vaccum leak somewhere I should look?

Anyone, I'm lost.

There seems to be various suggestions on what to fix.

I plugged one of the two hole on the bottom of each of the slides and the motor idled perfectly. This was on the 555 motor. But Dynojet supplies plugs with their kits used in stock motors. I used 10-24 nylon screws and tapped the hole. I will be doing this on the next motor. They can always be removed.

If your floats are set right ... to the top of bowl and no more ... then you open air screws some more ... 3 is just a starting point ... CA bikes tend to run closer to 4.

When I did mine, I made the mistake of setting my idle cold..
After riding for a half hour, I noticed the thing running away..

I reset the idle down lower and it has run pretty good ever since..

Set your idle only after you are well warmed up..

Idle is set good, right around 1200 when she's all warmed up..  It's just once she's warmed up the rev's aren't really willing to drop...

I just got a 04 GS500F from dealership. The bike was slightly used (230) miles when I bought it. As I am a newbie to motorcycling and have never even driven a manual car before, I figured I was having trouble getting into gear because of improper clutch/throtling. However, I found out that when I roll on the throttle for some time (or just rev the engine) sometimes the RPM's don't come down when I release the throttle. The throttle snaps back, but the RPM's stay put and the engine sounds the same as when I rolled the throttle. I am thinking that my throttle cable is getting stuck, and this might be happening to your bike too.  I'm going to call the dealership tomorrow and have them check it out.
This does not happen all the time on my bike, and usually I can just kill the engine wait a few seconds, restart and the RPM's are back down to normal, however sometimes it stays stuck for a long time. Also, there might be something rubbing/catching on the throttle cable which does not allow it to return normally. This would explain why this happens irregularly, but like I said I'll see what the dealership says.  Has anyone else had similar problem?
