Textile gloves

Hey kids, here's a tip.

I had gotten my first pair of super-duper Icon summer gloves (Tarmac V 2.0) a week and a half back for a 200 mile squirt back home where I came from and loved them. I had been riding in 90 degree weather for a few years in some mid-weight Triumph gloves that lost me 3 or more pounds per trip, so these things were the bee's knees, the shizzle and da kine.

Coming home from work the other day, I do the OCD check under  the tank and notice that the screw that holds the throttle cable into the carbs on the '02 had worked it's way 3" out from where it's supposed to be.

At the next light I grab it with my right index finger and thumb and start to screw it back in. I then notice that my index finger is burning  :thumb: .

Heat and these gloves is a problem. Mind you they still rock.

I know what you're thinking, "It's doesn't take a chemical engineer to know that when you stick nylon against the top of the cylinder head, it will melt."

Guess the moral of the story is that while summer weight textile gloves are an excellent idea, they are no match for calfskin ropers.
