I just got my first bike an 05 gs 500, I love it but would like to get a louder pipe the guy at the shop where i bought it says there are none but  I have seen pics on this web site that show some with new pipes. Any help would be great! He said the mounting bracket would be the problem. Thanks again!

he's a carnie.  plain and simple,  planting ideas in your head to get you to buy a bigger bike.   there are the wileco's that have been made by mr Srinath,  yoshi and V&H both made systems,  and if you ask really nicely Srinath can make a flange that will allow the use of almost any 600 slip on that you can find, it's just a matter of drilling the holes in the right locations.

Aftermarket exhaust for an F?  Never heard of such a thing.

just tear it apart and make it happen...

And if you come up with anything new and interesting make sure you share...
Fett's (CRASHED) Ride-Flush Mounts, Aluizio Undertail, Aluizio Hugger, Wileyco w/flange, K&N, Sudco Jets, Custom Painted Tail & Fender, 2wheeljunkie LED Tails & Factory Clip-ons       Now I'm rolling an old school GSXR1100 w/1260cc kit built by Joe Marasco himself and two Harley 883 sportsters!

I thought about buying some kind of can, slip-on or bolt-on, and welding it on to the current pipe. Or having a shop bend me a lil bigger pipe and weld it to that. But then i have the headers being the same stock size. Oh well, i really only want to change the sound of the stock system. I dont really think i like the Vance system, i like the higher pitch sound but i dont know if ill get it because 500's are 2 cylinder and most bikes around here with yoshi systems and stuff are 4 cylinder.

Correct me if im wrong. :dunno:

it's kind of ridiculous how there are 2 more posts everyday on a topic that we have covered about 5000 times now.

Anyone have a ballpark idea of how much it'd cost to have a new mid-pipe fabbed up? I pulled my V&H headers + can off a couple days ago to strip them down and repaint them, and the mid-pipe had rusted through in one spot and split in another.  I can JB weld some thin steel over the holes and grind it down, but it'd be easier to just have the new pipe made.  That said, if it's gonna cost me $100 I'll just go the Wileyco route since I have my stock exhaust hanging from the rafters in my garage.

Firstly most people that have just dont know that you have talked about it in the past were not psychic. And the search function dosent really help out when the answer im looking for is buried in 100 usless posts and some times its not even for the right model bike.

So before you freak out, you should think were just trying to get info and not everyone is an expert on forum usage.  Im not trying to be an A-hole here.

put "aftermarket exhaust" in the search box...click "search for all terms"...it'll make the search more specific

click on ascending too... so itll uncover threads covered in this forums infancy..(its good reading too...ie..when srinath's friend tried wileyco the first time)

right model?..exhaust no diff i think throught the years...F subtle diff vs E

dont flame on this one...consider just as tips

1 - Assume it was; this bike has been around (and relatively unchanged) since '89.  ;)  And there was a thread on adding an aftermarket exhaust to a 500F that wasn't even halfway down the page when this thread was first posted - a quick browse is always a good thing when getting into a new forum.

2 - I don't think you clicked Search All Terms.

This is turning into a Kids These Days thread, but I never start posting on a new-to-me forum until I've spent a few days reading FAQs and browsing current posts.
