Chevy afraid of Honda Ridgeline?

Watching the AMA Formula Xtreme race on SPEED today, I saw a commercial from Chevy that claims "There is no word for pick-up truck in Japanese."

So apparently that means the Japanese can't build a pickup truck either, huh? I also had to chuckle when the Bow-Tie company laid stake on building "the most reliable trucks." I pity anybody but Toyota who competes with Honda for that superlative!

I think the tacoma & tundra are definitely forces to be reckoned with... I don't follow it, but aren't they doing really well in the craftsman truck series? :dunno:

Demographically speaking, the majority of full-size truck owners don't buy japanese.  But the times are changing.

The big 3 have their trucks in the top ten best selling, but no Japanese trucks :dunno:

The Chevy engineers must have test-driven the Titan.

My dad just paid off his Tundra.  It's blue book value is still like $17,000.

He is going to sell it, buy a beater truck, a car for my little sister, and hopefully a Harley to tinker with.

Gotta love those Toyotas.  It is like driving a savings account.

The Honda Ridgeline is not a truck in the sense that it is a unibody constructed vehicle, lacking a full ladder type frame.

Unibody + off-road =  :nono:

It's more a high quality, soccer mom, monster truck, for hauling gardening supplies, an almost SUV.

I have an 04 Grand Cherokee (unibody).  It does better stock then a lot of my friends lifted and modified pickups, I just can't ford through water as deep as they can.  Gotta love the solid front axels front and rear though :)

NASCAR vehicles have absolutely nothing in common with the vehicles they're named after, so that wouldn't matter much.  Stock car racing my ass.   Not that the Toyota and Tundra aren't good trucks, it's just that NASCAR is a very poor basis for choosing a car.

I was very close to buying a Nissan Titan this year.  The crew cab.  It was a hell of a truck, and the prices on the un-fancy trim packages were reasonable.

I ended up going the exact opposite direction and getting a BMW 325i touring.  I don;t think I will ever be able to drive anything but German cars after owning this one.  Simply an amazing ride.

If you're looking for a truck, though, take a look at the Titan.  Big.  Powerfull, Tough looking.  Comfortable.
