... and i look down and the left side of my bike is covered in oil, I basicly shaZam! myself, then I'm like wtf is going on.she's not heating up, and she's not loosing power, so i ride into work. I get there and I have more oil on the outside of the motor than on the inside. I start looking at her and I see that I am missing the front left side valve cover bolt.  it's been 2000+ miles since I've done the valves and now it decides to fall out.

i just need to find a valve cover bolt,  good thing you rode the yzf,  now youo'll just have to mob around with a ratty r6 and mismatching gear.

Sorry to hear that.
Something similar happened to me last year.
The valve cover gasket failed about 500 yards befor the Holland Tunnel.
Covered the bike and my leg with oil in a split second.
I pulled over and two guys from a NJ Transit garage helped me
plug up the leak and I limped back home.

I know it's nowhere near the same, but my mudflap reflector randomly fell off one day...  Then I noticed I was missing one of the fork reflectors too...

I bet your valve cover bolt is hanging out with your left socks...

Only when you don't tighten them properly or use loctite.  I lost my exhaust hanger bolt a few weeks ago; I'm sure it was my own fault   I am surprised it took that long for davipu's bolt to fall out

I lost the bolts from one of my exhaust headers sometime during a 3,000+ mile trip a couple years ago:

I had new tires put on at a merchants in Christiansburg and on my way home lost a front tire cause they didn't tighten the lug nuts on the right side of my car.  ruined both rims and damn near killed me.  They fixed all the damage and replaced all my rims, they were custom.  Needless to say i don't take my car there anymore.

My rear reflector fell off through no fault of my own.......  14,500 miles of vibration was all it could take.   :dunno:
