I played in a rock band from 1999-2004 at venues around kansas city.  We called ourselves Ten Cent Wonder and had kind of a Collective Soul/Stone Temple Pilots- type sound.

Since the band broke up, I've been looking for another band, but really don't have much time for it at this point in my life :(

Anyone else play in band?  Any pics or links to music?

that's me on the right, about 2 years ago..

I had a band back in MN, we sucked, just played covers for ourselves at a church.

Moved to Cali, got into a band, but didn't have crap for technical abilities, still don't, but I'm working on it as I have time (guitar player here).

Takes forever when you know what you want to do, but can't express that through the instrument.

Sort of been on hold musically since I decided to move down to San Diego, so once that happens I'm gonna kick it in the ass.

Try 1970tiacarrera.com for some weird rock-type stuff from Austin.

Do a search on myspace.com for "Vega" the band, they are pretty good, kind of Mars Volta/trance kind of thing going on there.

Super Furry Animals.

I'm currently in "Evil Twin." Our web site is broken tonight...  :dunno:  Once it works again...  I'll find a good pic.

I have another band that kinda faded away.   :(  "Jonfrum and the Big Death."  We have about 10 half done songs.

I don't have any pics but I was in a band briefly in high school. It was a punk band; and we kinda sucked. We did some covers (Nirvana, Green Day) that turned out "OK". It was a lotta fun tho  :thumb:

EDIT: I played electric guitar in the band, but can also play electric bass.
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

I started playing bass back in high school and set it down after graduation.  I picked it again last fall and have had a lot of fun.  Lately I've been moving more towards rhythm guitar type stuff with my 7-string guitar.  Yes, I like metal ;)

I've never been in a band though, never really thought I was ever good enough to try out for that sort of thing

The guys on the music board I read play a lot of yahoo messenger jams but I've never had the guts to join.  I don't know enough about theory to be able to join along ...and I don't use yahoo IM

I bought my baby(13 year old son) a Big Baby Taylor today. It sounded so fine in the guitar shop and was made in California. I went in to look at some Ibanez and Fender acoustics but they started freaking out when I started screaming about the fu_cking chinese communists taking American taxpayer jobs that they "guided me" over to this one. It is fine and I know my little boy will love it as much as I love him. I can "make C, F, and G". 30 years ago I used to sell guitars so I kinda "know what's going on". It makes me freakout to pay retail when I know what things "really cost" the dealer.  Taylor, Martin or not!

You really don't get it do you???

Hey that's great!  Taylor's are very nice acoustics

My jazz bass is a US made Fender but it's the only US made guitar I have so far.  I'd love to get a Mesa Boogie Bass 400+ but those are $$$$.  The Rectifiers are pretty tasty also

I've got a Big Baby Taylor as well, great guitars.  Kinda light on bass frequencies, but I don't miss the boominess that bigger guitars are also known for.  Sound will just keep getting better, since it's solid wood top, compared to a "sounds as good as the day it was made 75 yrs later" laminated top.

I'm about 20 mins from the Taylor factory right now, as a matter of fact...Missed the daily tour at 1PM though...

What's up with that "Taylor contest" that I have seen at the last two guitar shops I've been in and on their websites? Does Bob make you a guitar?
To YOUR specs.? Just curious. I threw the last one in file 13.   Wilson

i sang in a band very briefly in high school, doing classic rock covers.

aside from that i've been playing guitar for a long time.  recently started playing 12-string.

here's a couple of amateurish recordings from when i was playing 6-string.

The Foggy Dew was recorded in a dubbing stage at USC, the others were recorded on a borrowed 4-track.

wow man sounds great.  You have a good voice too, it fits with the songs

as a side note, you a lot like my friend's older brother.

I have never really been in a formal band, but I do play at bluegrass weddings    This is me playing at a friends wedding in Key West in June.  I'm the underdressed guy in the middle....

Taylor does make a sweet guitar.

I've been playing since about 1998.  In 2000 I bought my current guitar.  It is a Guild D25.  I love it.

I played for probably about 4 hours total this weekend by myself.  I got into this zen sort of jam where I was making crap up and just playing.  It was like a Tim Reynolds concert, but not as annoying.

That's me in the "Studio". Basically just a spare room in the apartment that I keep the gear and recording equipment in. I love my Martin!

That's my guitar collection... OK, well only the first 3 are mine, the rest are my dad's. L-R: My dad's old 78' Telecaster that he handed down to me (WIth a humbucker at the neck- gorgeous sound), then My Martin DCX1E acoustic (Synth Material, nice warm Martin Tone), and my Ibanez Bass. My dad's old Gibson F cutout acoustic on the right, and his Gibson ES-355 on the floor.

That's my college band, "One Night Stand". Them's were the glory days when we rocked hard. Now I do mostly singer-songwriter acoustic stuff, still rocks, just not as loud :thumb:
