The most dangerous thing I ever do in the car is look for a CD.  For me, talking on the phone is not a distraction, smoking isn't, eating is a minor one...  But, trying to find a CD is DANGEROUS!

I dont care what you say, driving and talking on a cell is distracting and dangerous... you just don't notice how crappy you drive and how little you pay attention.

my roommate, a normally good driver, SWEARS the phone doesn't interfere with him... my ass...  he doesn't realize the stupid crap he does...

wasn't there some official study... that said that talking on a cellphone was equivalent to driving .08 over?

scottpeel, I guess that was the point to get a good thread going
.  Not really planning on using it but my mother in law called me the other day at a stop light.  What a sight!  I am talking on the cell on a bike!

And I don't care what you say, looking for a CD is far more dangerous...  For ME.

I've been driving while on my cell for a long time.  I know that driving comes first and most often have many moments where I have to ask the person on the phone to repeat what they've said because I was too busy driving.  That means nothing for other people...  I'm only talking about ME and MY cell phone and MY driving skills and MY attention level.

I've never had an "almost" crash because of my cell phone...  NEVER.

I have, however, had about a dozen almost crashes and ran partially off the road while looking for a CD.

But...  I think we were talking about MP3 players.    :P

Quote from: Budrick320As a nOOb thats been riding a month and a half, I am not sure if it is wise to use a mp3 player/radio/cd player while riding.
Well, I'm stupid and had to try it on the way home tonight...

I wouldn't suggest it unless you're really damn confident and aware...  It's a lot like earplugs, since you can't hear as much noise around you...  BUT!  It's a bit of an added distraction...  I had mine just loud enough to hear, but I kept wanting to turn it up louder...  I could see using an MP3 player to keep you awake on a really long trip, but riding around on the street is prolly not too smart.

The dancing didn't help either...

Blue tooth works good.  I am sure that the helmet makes all the difference.
