Does anyone know where to get a longer swing arm? I was told there are after markets out there but I'm unable to find one.   :dunno:

Unless you're planning on drag racing your GS (an exercise in futility in and of itself) extending the swingarm is a waste of time.  You'll just ruin the best thing about the bike, which is its handling.

I'm just screwing around with it. Just wondering. There has got to be something out there for it. I guess I really just want a bigger tire in the rear but the damn brake caliper bracket is in the way. Has any one relocated it? And how well did that work?

davipu

why the hell whould you want one? all it's going to do is fk up the handling and make it slow to respond. jittery and unnerving in corners. anything over 3 inches is going to raise the rear end with out a shock adjustment. you'll have to replace the shock as the force multiplaction from the longer swing arm will be like riding 2 up permanatly.  and your going to need a new chain and sprockets too.    nevermind that the whole point if extending the swing arm is to prevent the bike from doing power wheelies, which it won't do anyway, without dumping enough money into the motor to buy a new r6.

if you just want to go wider, a rgv 250 swing arm is a dierct bolt on and will allow you to run a 160 rear tire.

I saw this swingarm that was extended but only like 2-3 inches, and looked normal ... almost, it had a idler shaft with a set of sprokets and a 2 stage chain. He was running a 280 rear tire. Not bad. but of course a 280 on a GS will be wider than the motor, and the extra un sprung weight will need a new hydraulic assy of a front end loader to keep it from bouncing like a ping pong ball ... But in concept ... can work if you want it bad enough ... Yea and power loss ... massive power loss ... 20hp GS ... yea ...

The RGV swingarm is not a direct bolt-on. Some parts need to be fabricated.
Common sense in not very common.

They have a GS550 1999 - I am betting its a 500.
