Im goin in at 2, this blows. I cant start cycle gear today because of this, and now ill have to miss work at my current job for at least 3 days. GRR!!! Oh well, it has to be done, either now, or later, it has to be done. Just had to vent, go in for a checkup and find out i need surgery ASAP. Ive NEVER been put under anesthesia before, and im VERY VERY nervous. Wish me luck!

Oh, it's great fun being put under! Since I absolutely enjoy passing out when I drink, this is great! I start counting backwards from 99, and by 97 I can feel my head slowly roll to the left, and then, almost suddenly, I'm waking up in a completely different room, like I was transported there in one of those Star Trek transporters! It was cool! And, did I mention it was fun!?!

wisdom teeth are fun, just don't leave there with out a pocket full of gauze pads, you'll want to change them like every 45 minutes.  and dry sockets suck.   although beer and perks do mix, I'd recomend against it unless your bored and just want to sleep for 10 hours or so.

davipu

if your that worried about it, I got a leatherman and a sewing kit, I can hook you right up.

Daniely

yea im not lookin forward to this ONE bit. Still kinda nervous, maybe a tad scared. But like I said, it needs to happen :(.

worst case seniero is that they cut out your tounge, or you die.
so i whouldn't worry about it. atleast they are going to knock you out. I had mine out when i was in the cream corn.  two novacane shots and a does this hurt? they started pulling.  it felt like they were ripping out my brain.  you can't deaden the nerves that run up into your noodle from the back of your jaw so you feel them ripping them out. and the worst part is the crunch and pop from when the root lets go of your jaw bone.  and you hear it.    have fun.

They should give you good drugs. I had my wisdom teeth out about a hundred years ago (all four), and I'd never been under, either. I was scared going in, but they were great, the drugs were good, and I slept a lot when I got home. I remember being sore, but the drugs took care of that. And it's an excellent excuse to eat ice cream!

If you're not completely out, they might do some drilling and breaking up of teeth (like hammering). I didn't know that when I went in, so I was a little shocked and scared by it.  :o  I just wish I'd known what to expect. Perhaps the last century has seen improvement in this area. Maybe they'll give you Versed, the wonderful "forget things" drug. I highly recommend it! ;)

You'll have someone to drive you, right?

Good luck, and I bet you'll come through with flying colours!!!

Yeah the reason your so sore after is because they remove them with a hammer and chisel.  I too had 2 laying down, but I put mine off for years untill I finished college (and I could afford it).  It made me feel better and its better to have all four taken out at once.  Its not bad, just watch out for the dry sockets...

they shouldn't let you leave without a ride, cause you are way beyond leagle on the drugs that they give you.

davipu

and when you come out watch out for glass doors.

Come to think of it, if you're still reading, ask them for Versed! Wish I'd had that option when I had mine done. My sweetie has had to have epidural shots for his bad back, and he generally doesn't remember a thing for that whole morning.....and, of course, I'd never take advantage of that.....muahahaha!!!

pandy

P.S. And if you're seriously nervous, they could also try a little Valium or Ativan. There's nothing wrong with taking something to ease the nerves. Don't ask me how I know about all these good drugs.    :)

This is actually great news. I wish I'd been completely knocked out. Seriously!

Well...if there's anything any of us can do who are reasonably close to you, just let us know!!

And try to come online before the drugs wear off...we wanna have some fun messin' with ya! :nana:

pandy ;)  :)

P.S. And be sure to get a lot of rest! You're going to need to heal up quickly for your busy schedule!!

wisdom teeth are no big deal.  My biggest problem was a soar throat from being intubated.  On the Plus, plus, PLUS side, the stuff they give you via IV right before you go into the OR is a-fricking-mazing.  Try to sit back and enjoy being high as a kite in a controlled environment

I was scared as hell before my knee surgury (ACL, MCL, etc.).  They gave me a shot of something and I was feeling very happy by time I got to the operating table.   Get some of that stuff.

Questions:

1) What are dry sockets?
2) What is the effect of having wisdon teeth laid over?
3) How long is the recovery?
4) What does the procedure cost?
5) That covers it.

Good luck dude.  You'll be fine.

I dont know much abotu the procedure. But having wisdom teeth laid over sucks, it puts pressure on my other teeth and is causing my gums to swell up. Recovery is like 4 or 5 days, about 3 days of spitting blood. Not sure ont he cost, my health insurance is covering it, there isnt even a co-pay. So yea, fun stuff...
