So as some of you know before I left for vacation I left the valve on PRI because I didn't see an off and just assumed that had to be it.  Yes, I've learned my lesson. :(   Well it was like that for two full days and then I called home and had them switch it to the on position.  Today I got back and it would not start.  I didn't hear anything!!  It didn't sound like it was trying to start.

So I guessed it filled up with gas, what's the worst that could've happened?  Anything that I can do to fix it?

If you didnt hear anything.. its probably the battery.. If you have a charger.. charge it.. if not, try and bump start it  :thumb:

So are you telling us that the engine didn't even turn over? Or it DID turn over, but you didn't hear anything that sounded like combustion taking place in the cylinders?

You need to type REALLY SPECIFIC information in order to be able to troubleshoot this over the 'net before sundown, so BE PRECISE in what you tell us, and we should be able to get you pointed in the right direction, if not resolve this completely.

I had to watch WGN yesterday to see the game in Fenway (I live FAR AWAY from Boston), but I turned down the sound so I wouldn't have to listen to the White Sox announcers blather on about what a great team THEY have this year.

No matter what else happens, take your time; I've been a motorcyclist for a LONG time now, and a devoted member of Red Sox Nation even longer, so I'll do my best to help you get this straightened out.

Dead battery?

The only time you will have an issue with leaving it on prime is if your float valves are not operating properly. If that was the case you would have gas all over the floor.
Common sense in not very common.

Unless they saw gas on the floor by your bike before they shut it off.. chances are that no gas got in your engine..I leave my bike on prime alot (forget to turn it off) and it has only over flowed once (cause of a full tank ..more pressure)

If it sat for a bit, it is probably the battery. To be safe.. check the oil for gas (smell it) But like he said above, be a little more specific, and the GS's gurus will have you rollin in no time  :thumb:

WAIT A DAMN MINUTE! Are you telling us that you didn't even pull the dipstick out to CHECK THE OIL? Stop whatever else you're doing, do NOT try to start the motorcycle (put the key in your pocket), and CHECK THE OIL!

How FULL / OVERfull is it? Is the oil diluted? Can you SMELL any gas in the oil? Does the oil seem thin and watery? Post your answers, and we'll decide what you should do next, based on what you tell us about the oil situation.

Keep in mind that MANY bad things can happen if you ignore the gas/oil problem. Check the oil, and let us know what you find.

Thanks everyone, but I got it to start and it's fine now.  A friend came over.

CHECK THE OIL ANYWAY! CHECK THE OIL! CHECK THE OIL!

When you get back from your ride, tell us how this problem was resolved, and let us know the condition of your oil.
