No, it is not touching and the heat shield is pretty good.  And I have readjusted them since taking that picture.

That was sandwiched between a semi, toyota tacoma, and another semi.  I escaped with whiplash and soft tissue damage.  My passenger also had whiplash and soft tissue damage.  Her's was more severe than mine, partly due to where she was sittng partly due to her age and back troubled history.

We were in that this Jan.  During rush hour people were being blinded by the sun on a very busy interstate and decided to stop on the interstate.  The crash made the news.
