Fuel Leak....Help!!!

Got a 92 GS500E,it first started out that it needed new carbs,so i got some "new" carbs from someone off of e-bay,when put them on the fuel was coming out of the top tee. I got a new tee and it's still coming out and i have no clue on how to get it to stop.

Being that this tee is rubber and just slips over the two nipples it would seem to me that there should be some sort of o-rings that are missing since it's not exactly the tightest fit.

Any suggestions would be great.

The top tee is the "air vent hose" as referred to in the Haynes manual. It runs over the air box and down between the battery box and the air box.

The "why" it is leaking has already been resolved. It should be tight and not slip. No o-rings are used. You might consider some sealant on the nipples of the carbs. You may be able to slide the tee in one direction and then the other to apply the sealant.

Why do you have fuel there if it is an air vent? The bottom tee is the fuel input tee from the ON-RES-PRI selector. Make sure you have the right hose on the right tee. Check your routings/connections with Kerry's webpage here.

ok now i feel stupid.....

this bike is a real piece of work let me tell ya, for example,what if i do not have a frame mounted petcock....


i bought this off of a kid who just got laid off and i felt bad for him..but i think he might be coming close to getting it back

Now that is interesting. The previous owner(s) sound like most of the GS abusers out there. They decide to "fix" something, or worse "mod it" and they end up with parts left over. The frame petcocks are not that expensive, but more to the point you didn't know the GS was "altered."

He may not have done the deed. The level of ignorance about mechanical things is nearly epidemic these days. You've come to a great resouce here at GS Twin and if you want to do a little wrenching, you can get the bike right soon enough.
