Well I need to bring back this thread as Ive come somewhat closer to my goal of a new bike.  Ok, so I have now well atleast for this hour narrowed my choice to 3 bikes in various years of that same model.  First, 97-00 Suzuki GSXR 600, 98-00 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R, and 01-02 Suzuki SV650S.  Now I have a couple of questions, mainly about the Ninja.  Have any of you had any experience with Kawasaki, known problems that the company has had?  I had kind of ruled out getting a Kawasaki but they do look like a nice bike, and I think the styling of those particular years is  better on the Kawasaki then the GSXR, but Id rather have a solid built ugly bike then a cool piece of junk.  Throw your opinions out, thanks.

Quote from: JascoIt is probably because there are a lot more 650's and therefore more accidents on them.

and lots of new riders (who fancy themselves canyon carvers) buy them as first bikes...insurance companies are getting hip to them.

Seriously look at the gsxr 600 or better still-gsxr750 (probably the best all around bike. torque like a liter, light like a 600. easy to ride in the city and at home on the track. 02 is best. they feel like big bikes physically though-too big for me.

of course, nothing wrong with a honda... :dunno:

My friend just bought a 2002 GSX-R 750 for $4000 CAD ($3303 US)
The guy is shipping it back from the UK for free too. Sick bike.

I hope your friend does not become a victim of fraud. That ad sounds like a scam. the bike description doesnt match the picture: ... polished whls...Rated the best cruiser in it's size, certainlly the best looking!Comes with extra options, for your best Suzuki deal $4,000 obo Vancouver

anytime someone has a bike for sale in another country and ships for free, and the bike is at the low end of the value ($3300 is what a salvage title 02 750 should cost-thats what my friend paid for his salvage titled bike) its usually a scam. I hope not for your friends sake.

My uncle got a V-Strom recently and absolutely loves it. He's got a 1000, but the DL650 seems like a good step up from the GS... but you seem to be leaning towards the supersports rather than tourers.

Personally I'd want to step up to either an unfaired SV650 or, depending on the $$, a Honda 599. Or a Buell CityX. Or something Italian.
