Sorting through another problem

Got the bike, rode 60 miles, no problem.  Next trip, about 20 miles into it started missing, got it home after another 40 miles, and found the left side plug was carbon fouled.  Took off tank and checked the air filter, looked pretty good.  Bought new plugs, DPR8EA-9's, and after about 20 or so miles, started missing again.  Doesn't miss all the time, seems like especially low rpms.  Got home, pulled plugs, same thing left side plug carbon fouled (or at least I think that is what it is - see pics the left side plug in on the right in the pics, the one pic is a little fuzzy, but you can see the plug is getting black where the other one is nice a purdy looking!).  Did the float level trick I found on the site and both sides looked good... right at the gasket line.  Next possibility is what, dirty/varnished jets should make it too lean, right?  Should I pull the carbs at this point?  Thanks!

if it's just the left one check the vaccum line that goes to the petcock.

RedShift

... and check that the gap on the left is to spec or a little less.  Can't hurt to do the simple things first.
