Just a quick (or not so quick) lap of Oran Park Raceway in Sydney Australia.
Did this about two weeks ago and it was my first track day and hopefully not my last anyone who hasn't done one yet go out and do it NOW.
Although I would have to say if you give it your all it does seems to be a bit hard on the GS or may be Im a just bit paranoid Idl ike my engine to last a while   (Although at one stage I did see 12500rpm :o) but can't seem to notice any problems after the ride day still sounds and feels the same although I know it helped me makes you feel so much more cofident on the road, and faster.
Oh btw if anyones curious it was shot with a Helmet Cam connected to a Sony mini DV Camera, theres a bit of sun glare in it but think I can fix that for next time as it was the first time I had actually used it the cam was attached to the left side of my helmet. :thumb:

Thanks Lukewarm!  It was a fun ride.  :thumb:

I really dig the over-and-under passes. Reminds me of the electric slot car tracks we played with as kids.

Funny I never thought about that but yeah your right it does have that slot car feel to it, might have to go go buy a kit and set the track up and not have to pay $140 next time   :thumb:

The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

Sweet vid, I'll have to check out your camera setup if/when we get a ride organised.

I'm hanging out to do a track day at Eastern Creek, but it's too exxy atm and they now require full leathers  :guns: Might have a look at doing a day out at Oran Park, only thing is the pit wall, looks a little sketchy, on the racing line riding so close to it out of the final turn.

Yeah I thought about the wall to but with the speeds you get up to on the GS its not a problem, at first I was parnoid about it and ended up cutting the corner to tight but then I settled in to a rhythm i was still a good 10 feet away from it so no worries the tricky part is at the end of the straight it flows nicely left then tightens really quickly into a dog leg a few people ended up running off the track there and a 999 went down there.
I would recommend Oran over Eastern Creek as its not as fast as Eastern creek and you would be truly flogging a dead horse around a track designed for 500cc GP bikes and superbikes where as Oran is tighter and a lot more fun but Nasho or the old road are much tighter then oran park is so its still fast on a GS I didn't have one single moment or scare there but it looked like others were there was a girl there on an R1 and I lapped her 3 times in one session but there were 2 bucket racers there that kept giving me the what for  but i did chase down an R6 for 4 laps then got passed him on the last lap  .
Next ride I will bring all my camera gear Helmet Cam, Tank Mount, Still camera etc Ive got so much camera gear now I'm wondering if the bike can carry it all
See you then :thumb:

Hi,

I live approx 10 mins from Oran Park at Mount Annan.  What company was it that you did the ride with.  How long diod it last and how many laps?

Lukewarm Wilson

The group was circuit breakers

http://www.circuitbreakers.com.au/

which I think is the only group that does it now not to sure( they also do eastern creek) it cost about $130 for the day we got four sessions each as there were four different groups with about 6-7 laps each session we would have had more sessions but it was raining in the morning so we did not get to start until about 2 hours after we were due to start so probably would have gotten an extra 2 sessions in that time but it was truly worth the money and would gladly do it again the guys from circuit breakers are a good bunch and very helpful if you need it cant really say a bad word about the whole day as everyone and everything was good except for the rain in the morning. :thumb:
