and I'm suprized your not working in a sideshow, ya carnie.

Give me another week to closely monitor the whole thing. What I can use some help with is finding a consistent spot to fill to so I can get an accurate reading of mpg. By the way, I'm so sorry for stealing this thread.

I'm guessing the first thing I can do is put it on the center stand when filling up instead of the side stand. This ensure a consistent level of the bike where as using the side stand has some room for movement between the degree of lean. Beyond that, I could use some advice. Where do you guys fill to?

usually till I get tired of wiggiling the gas down.

Mk1inCali

Ditto dave's remark, just wiggle the bike back and forth as you are sitting on it and the gas goes down out of the neck.

I go until I feel people looking at me, then I flip 'em off and speed off into the night.

Thread hi-jack complete!

I want to cut the neck out of a tank, and just be able to fit 4 gals in without any wiggling.

hehe Very nice. :thumb:

That's one thing I don't every do. Sit on the bike while filling it up. Makes sense to me. So I'll just sit on the thing, shake my ass, and keep going until there's no more gurgling.

That's it, you can get a surprising amount in there if you do that.

I'm coming back to San Diego tomorrow, want to ride for a bit somewhere?  I hate going all 4.5 hrs all in one shot straight.

I wish. Trying to get over a flu right now. Kinda keeping myself quarantined from everyone. Sucks taking days off from work when you're really sick. ;)

Can't wait to see the look on people's faces as I ass molest my GS at the gas station. Maybe I'll just turn to them and wink. :thumb:

OK everyone I'm back and this is what I found. Drained the tank and went the gas station Paid 2.759 reg. gas Exactly 5 gallons in an empty 5 gallon tank at a sum total of $13.80. Put it into the Bike filled the tank completely with about 12 fl oz. left over. So the spec's say the GS has a  5.3 gallon tank,  it's really 4.7 gallons, would be my guess. The last gallon did take so time getting in, filled to the top and let it fall again and again.  This is were the problem is solved for me. I'm sure I was only putting in properly 3.5 gallons if that, when I had another gallon or so to go. Thanks everyone now I smell like gas!!! Time for bed...

2.75!!!!

It's rediculous expensive here in Visalia (San Joaquin Valley of CA), 3.21 for reg!

It's only 2.98  north of SD on the I5.  Forget where I filled up, but it was good gas.

Just North of Atlanta one gas station had it for 2.79 and the other was 2.75. Yesterday I purchased it for 2.68 at the GA, Tenn border.

I was getting 150-160 on my old '92 bike before having to switch over. I was ringing to all holy hell, though, as well as having it jetted.
