Since we seem to have an abunance of photographic talent on here, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with adding color to a black and white photograph WITHOUT going digital. Such as those tinting pens or kits that are available. An example might be if you have a b+w photo and want to put some blue in someone's eyes, etc.

Anyone know anything about it? I googled it but come up mostly with products and ways to do it with Photoshop. Anyone care to point me in the right direction? Got any experience? Tips about adding color to a black and white photo? Thanks.

You print the monochrome image, rather pale by underdeveloping if using traditinal photo processing, and overpaint with watercolour. In theory anyone can do it but an arty side helps.

Way back specialist paint used to be available. Back in the 60's this was a service offered by some photo-finishers who usually sent it to a specialist to be done by hand. I think they used to print the image using Kodak smooth matte paper.

Searching through the catalogues of specialist photo-chemical people might find you the paint but I am sure that traditional watercolour will do it. Ever since I saw this thread I have been trying to recall the name of a specialist company that used to do this up to the 50s and early 60s.

It was Leach (or Leech or similar) can't remember the preceding initial, of Brighouse, Yorkshire, England. Google might find some archival material.

In Cricket the testicular guard, or Box, was introduced in 1874. The helmet was introduced in 1974. Is there a message??
