Well well well, I have really done it this time. As you know, I have been tinkering with my signals. And as you know, I had a problem with compatability of the front LEDs. And as you know, I returned the fronts to stockers and left the tail integrated.

Well, this morning I had a dead battery. Sweet, I get to drive in leather and boots  :x . Get home tonight, jump it from my car's battery. I start driving and...the tach is intermittantly working and the lights (headlight, dash lights, etc) are dim. When I engage the rear brake light or turn signals and am cruising, the lights brighten and tach fires up. Then I come to a stop, and it reverses; the lights are bright when I have nothing engaged and dim when I het breakes, signal, hi-beam, etc.

What the F... :dunno:

And when I get home from my hour ride, I hit the kill switch and it's lights out; no juice. As if I didn't just ride across town.

So yesterday everything worked in the morning, but the signals were too fast. In the evening, I just removed the LEDs and put back on the stock fronts. And now I have a dead bike.

I am wondering if it has to do with the ground wires. On the rear signals, I did nothing with the negative connections; I hooked the integrator box straight to the battery. Is that a problem? I used every wire that goes to the back of the bike except the left and right ground wires, which are attached to nothing. Other than that...I'm stumped.

But I've had the rear integrator kit on for a week now, and these problems just startes as of 7 AM this morning.

I may mess with the fronts and see what happens. Basically, I don't know how to decide and find what's wrong.

Can you post the integrator circuit schematic so we can see what's in it?

Without that electrical information I have no clue.

Echoing John, we electrical people can't really help much without knowing the wiring of the gadget.

I would ask that you try to relate the turn signal schematic I posted previously to your bike as it is now. Print it out and pencil in the connections where you have made them. I know trying to learn wiring techniques and schematic reading at the same time can be intimidating.

Worst case, take some pics of how your wiring has been made. Try to include the wire colors. We electrical people like wire colors.

Alright, I scrapped it. I'm getting short stalks for the front and rear and mounting those tonight. I'm going back to the stock wiring and seeing if that helps. What's odd is that everything works perfectly when the battery is hooked up to my car's, and the battery's reading at about 8 volts on the bike by itself. What the hell?

I guess I'll have to wait for that R1 for the integrated signals  :dunno:

8 volts?

I thought it should be over 12, I'd check that battery again.

My Name Is Dave

Right, it should. But it's been dead for a couple days now. I don't think 8 volts is bad for a battery that is dead.  :dunno:

that is a trailer light kit for vehicles with seperate T/S from tail lights....Nissan P/U

it is just a ckt with a bunch of diodes to prevent back feeding of wires

after removing....will it solve all your WOES..... :dunno:

did you replace the flasher with a digital one????

The flasher...is that the Wagner 552 or whatever? I put that on and the signals worked (before the bike totally died), but they did not blink.

Here's the stock I removed...and put on the Buss 552 or whatever the heck.

Is the flasher different?

I am stuck like Chuck.

SOS, HELP!  :o

Speaking of, I was examining the battery, and I could not see the water level by just looking at the from the outside. Should the level be very clear to see, or should I shine a light or something at it? I had no idea if the level was at max, min, or otherwise...   :dunno:

But here's the problem: I drove it for an hour and that did not charge it. So something's awry...

it might still be under warr.

i'd go buy another batt at walmart.......

i go to the blem batt place.....
been on the shelf to long....

I think I have voided the warranty by cutting all the wires under there. Could I take just the battery in and have them check and/or replace it?

I may go get a new battery if I can't just take the thing to the dealer.

They'd have a lot of ammunition to deny warranty for aftermarket electrical futzing, though, so don't be too optimistic.

Say "sofa king" and "we todd did" together as if each were one word. Eliminate the spaces and you'll start to get it...  :P

Trust me, i want to. And I have eliminated the fender completely, so there is little space left for signals. My buddy and I decided to return it to stock, see if it works right, and then do the mods. If it was just the battery, I'm gonna be pissed. After staring at the bike and wiring schematic for hours, I just cut the integrator out. Man o man...

Real quick, I put the battery on a charger this weekend. I couldn't wait any more before I went out, so I took the battery off the charger and hooked it to the bike, even though it wasn't done charging. Hooked up, turn key...lights come one! OK, try to start, it is still too drained to start the bike over, but it's trying. So tonight I'll get it all together and hopefully I'll be cool. Put short-stalks up front, rewire rear integrator, and off I ride into a week of no rain and mid-70s!
