Use one of these for your bike key (so it detaches quickly from all your other keys).  Works great!

Or put some clear tape over the part that gets scratched.

 In my opinion, try to reduce the amount of tape and/or bubblegum to keep your bike together.

But this is all that holds some of our bikes together!  :dunno:

I keep each bike key on its own fob - a small ring and a rubber fob.  No scratchy.

I wanted to avoid carying keys and having the chance to loose them thats why I just have the house key w/ my bike key.  :) I think I have seen some kind of plate that mounts to the bars and covers that center part, anyone know what I mean ?

Thanks for the ideas so far  :thumb:  :thumb:

You could use a samll piece of rubber hose fitted over the key ( metal part ).

My key is on it's own ring with one of those silly "You're #1 with us" rubber key-fobs from Aurora Suzuki.

Not only does it not scratch...  It doesn't rattle. :thumb:

+1  I have rubber tubbing over the serrated sections of the cable lock and disc lock keys (3 keys on my ring).

I've got my house key and dorm room key on my ring (just a ring, no fancy stuff), and they usually end up lodging themselves in the space between the guage cluster bracket and the top clamp. It's nice that they don't scratch the bars up, but it can be a pain trying to wiggle them free, if the vibes don't do it for me first, though!

Yeah my keys and little led light get caught UNDER the bars, can be a pain but it stops them thrashing around. The only 100% way to prevent scratching somewhere is single keys or detachable as suggested.
