I can't elieve I have MAXIS tires on my GS and they SUCK. I've never had a tire lock up like this tire does. I can't stoppie on this piece of shaZam! to save my f%$king life.

What specific type of Maxis tires do you have on there?

Maxis is a sub-brand of Chin Sing, chinese tires, known for being cheap but hard as plastic.  While the latest ones are a decent performance tire (but not as good as Michelins, Dunlops, Pirelli, etc), some of the older ones were just as bad as Chins.

as for the stoppies?

To know how old a tire is, have a look at the sidewall.  You'll find a date code cast there:

It may be a part of a longer code but whatever, the last four numbers give the week and the year that the tire was made. This tire was made in the 39th week of 2002. It's only good for the current decade, but if you have a tire that could be 10 years old, it's crap and should be replaced anyway.

Are 'stoppies' something besides a way to say 'stop quickly'?  (by your response it sounds like it could be some type of trick thing or something??)
'96 GS500E - Boy, does it ever run!!!

A stoppie is a stunt for some people, for others it's an accident. It's when you get up on one wheel by grabbing a handful of front caliper. Like I said, some people think it's  :nana: stupid, but I love em. Do it ALMOST every time I stop. On a bicycle, motorcycle, anything. I'd do it in my car if I had the brakes to pull it off, lol.  :)
