First canyon run.

I finally took my bike for a canyon run. I was up in the Malibu area. Wow. I put 140 miles on my bike yesterday and I am sore. It feels so good. :) Well at least the 140 (75-90 actual carving miles) miles put me at 500 miles and I've reached my first milestone with my bike.

I kept it pretty mellow, except for once or twice where I screwed up and I was a wee bit too close to crossing the center line on a right turn. Luckily I didn't panic and I kept on telling myself to push more and I eventually  would come back in. I learned so much yesterday. The book Proficient Motorcycling was ringing through my head as well as my MSF class, but the book more so. I'm not quite done with the book, but the book has tons of knowledge. I got it based on recommendations here and they are right on the money. I'm a total newb on the bike and the bike really helped me have a good time yesterday. I even did things the book says not to because natuarally your body wants to release the throttle, but at least I'm aware of it and I can work on correcting that behavior. This canyon carving stuff is much funner on a bike than in my car. I can't wait until I do a track school.

My ass was hurting, but I didn't want to stop. I only stopped because I didn't want to continue in a forced state and make a serious mistake.

Not only that, but this bike is suprisingly quick. I gave it the first WOT run up to 70-75 from 0 and man it got up there quicker than I gave it credit for.

It's a lot of fun when you get it right, and not so much when you get it wrong.
Keep your eyes open, stay focused, and enjoy....

I'm in playa...just north of you...I go up to Malibu every weekend.  Riding the streets just sucks after you hit canyons...I use to commute..but now...I just anticipate going for rides on the weekends... ok I still ride on the street quite a bit   but it's not as fun

The chicken and Bull. that's a Steelers bar at least it used to be when I lived in Palms. I went there a few times to see the Steeler, but the breakfast sucked.
