Pretty nice bike!

I know the two end carbs will work off a '89 GSXR1100, but I haven't done it.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

RF900 carbs are downdraft carbs.... only work if you seriously mod the head

GS are side draft
kat 600-750 are side draft....34-36mm diam
gsxr750-1100 oil cooled are side draft 36-40mm depending on yr
also 92-95 gsxr750/93-97 gsxr11 water cooled

the big ones are rare!!!!!

i always wondered if the cx500 turbo carbs would work, then just take the whole turbo setup and transplant it to the gs? any got any ideas?

time and money
if you spend a wad on one of the above....
you can save a wad on the other....

I'm not usually a big fan of yellow bikes, but I like yours!  :thumb:

uhhh... have you run the bike after the head work?

It looks like you increased the head chamber volume which decreases the compression.
Common sense in not very common.

Are angled carb boots available?

I have access to a free set of '00 ZX9R carbs (which I think are down drafts)
I guess angled adapters could be made.

The 38's they put on the 750's 88-90 ... or the 40 smoothies they spal on the 750 and 1100 in the same time frame ... heck the 36 Kat 600 ones will be an improvement ...
Cool.

I would think that the amount of fuel which a carburetor is designed to flow is proportional to the horsepower produced by a single cylinder (more fuel = more oomph).  The GS500 produces about 39hp, or 19.5hp per cylinder.    So wouldn't you look for a 4-cylinder producing more than 78hp?  Kat600 (16.25hp/cylinder) probably doesn't flow any more fuel per cylinder than the GS500.  Not saying it couldn't... just that it shouldn't have to on the Kat.

I've wondered about using other carbs, because I am flowing about 30% more fuel than stock, and am suspicious that my float bowls aren't quite big enough for my fuel consumption.

I doubt that ... number of valves, the red line rpm and the load on the engine all determine the fuel flow needs ... carbs restrict the max fuel the bike can draw ... as in you drop the carbs down to say 28mm from the 33 it has and it will run like an entirely different bike ... put 40 smooth bores on it and it will be different ... and the power itself depends on the carb.
