I came home today after a really long day, to the smell of gasoline all throughout my house.  After looking through the house and not being able to find the source, I went out in the garage to find out that my 2004 500f tried to mate with my wife's brand new ninja 250.

My GS somehow fell over, rubbing all down my wife's new ninja and fell to the ground.

RESULT:  Ninja all scratched up  (have to find way to make look better)

GS:  Broken mirror stem ($70 from bike bandit) and a bent bar end bolt ($2)

Full GS gas tank  that leaked all over the garage floor ($15)

Now if anyone could tell me where I could find a cheaper left hand side mirror, and now to prevent my gs from trying to mate with a ninja, it would really make my day!

You have any clue what made it fall over?  Rolling out of gear?

I can see why the GS would want to mate with the Ninja. It was establishing dominance before the Ninja got any crazy ideas. Mine likes to piss all over the garage floor. Something about it not liking me keeping it on prime.  :mrgreen:

I knew it... Ninjas are sexy!

How to prevent a GS from mating with a Ninja (or any mammal, animal, or anything (like Buicks)).

The training of a GS is often a result of how well the owner is trained.

Step 1. Park GS on level ground, do so by leaning upper body over to the left to observe your own foot extending the sidestand. Noting that the sidestand is touching the forward stop on the frame.

Step 2. When dismounting, placing the left foot behind the sidestand, and pulling backwards on the left handlebar with the left hand will often ensure a proper bowing or kneeling of the GS to its master.

Step 2a. A gentle tug on the grab handle, backwards of course, using your favored or stronger hand, sometimes give the reassuring 'love-tug' that a GS needs before it settles off to sleep on its sidestand.

Addendum: Sometimes a GS needs to be put into gear, gently rolled forward til it is resisting being pushed forward anymore, and then using the left foot to extend the sidestand to subdue to GS's wanton desire to roll forward off of its sidestand to pursue or inflict the great love or horror the all GS's exhibit.

Most GS's are docile creatures who love to be taken deep into corners, accelerated quickly up out of them, and enjoy a little rubbing and polishing at the end of the day.

I'd look into other things before I'd spend $70 on a mirror part. Maybee after market or someone on the board can sell you theirs.

Thanks for all the replies.  I dont know what caused it to fall over.  It was on level ground, in gear, and had been in the garage for about a week.  I just figure it was mad at me for going that long with out riding it and it wanted to punish me...won't make that mistake again....lol
