That a really sexy bike. I wonder what the horsepower to the rear wheel is? Im looking at the Sv650 for my next bike but I might buy that bike.

what kinda material do they use on that seat? looks the same as the gixxers, cbrs, and ducati... i wanna rewrap my seat in that material. the stock material on the gs looks like rubber and cheap. :x

The general and fairly reliable way to calculate rear wheel horsepower is to take their claimed horsepower output (it's always crankshaft horsepower) and subtract 15%.

is it just me or are motorcycles getting taller and also getting shorter wheelbases? That bike looks like a short muscular guy, just like the new R6 does compared to it's old model, which is exactly the same way the motoGP bikes look. The GS is short and lanky in comparison

Question: What is the appeal of an SV?? I never figured it out. I am not downing them, but I personally don't like them. I think there are alot better looking bikes out there. Just wondering why so many like them?

I've never even ridden one, but I can tell you why I like 'em.  They're just like the GS, but more modern.  Standard style, same size, lightweight, great engine, low price.  What's not to like?  Looks are very low on the list for a lot of buyers.

I dunno - the '05 GSX-R 1000 is the first 'real' sportbike I can sit on and have both feet on the ground.  So not necessarily taller. Thank goodness.

That Z750S looks horrid, we're lucky we get just get the naked Z750 over here.

Cheaper than the SVS. Very impressive.

Love the 649cc parallel twin. Love the frame. Like the muffler, sorta. But fairings are icky, and only 4 gallons in the tank? Weak. With a small tank and an "extremely short wheelbase" this thing will not tour as well as the SV... if only the SV weren't so hideous...

I must say: from a style-vs.-substance standpoint, the Kawasaki 650R compares to the Suzuki SV650 as the Suzuki 500F compares to the Kawasaki 500R. They're flip-flopped.

So is the GSF outselling the 500R? If so, then maybe the SV will finally be dethroned...


Edit: just glancing at the SV pages... it really is ugly. Looks like the engine is being vomited out of the frame in front. Maybe all it needs is a decent chin fairing?

Also, why on earth has Suzuki gone back to the GSE-style rectangular mirrors? I switched those out for the old round SV mirrors and they're a hundred times better. Not just better looking, but they're vibration-free at any RPMs.

Gimme the 750s with z1000 fairing and I'll be a happy guy

I'm kinda digging the (EX?) 650R. Like the Buellish exhaust.  Should give the SVs a run for the money.  Time will tell if it becomes as good a race platform as them.  Odd that they didn't bring the naked(ish) version to the US. I guess they didn't want to take the chance with its bold styling, so instead brought out a rather conservative faired one...

While I like the looks of the low muffler I fear it precludes the addition of a centerstand which I think is unfortunate.

Also, since Kawasaki is presenting this as an all-arounder, it would be nice to be able to add some hard luggage but from the pictures that looks to be difficult at best.

I'm curious to see  the insurance rates on this.

Pricewise I don't think the EX500 and the 650R will compete in the same territory.

Kawasaki is probably thing EX500 vs 650R is kinda like GS500F vs SV650.
