I don't know either, but there are guides on the site to how to do your carbs.

(they might be on the main site and not on the message board part, but you can search the message board too, i guess).

I imagine that they will probably include some sort of method for inspecting the carbs?  I dont' know?

Man, Srinath would do it for half that, I'm sure! Then again if your bike is in their hands now, I guess it is too late.

Do you do any wrenching on your bike? Is this a GS? Are you in the US and if so, what part? We don't have a lot of information to work with from your post. Did you buy the pipe from another source and these cats are doing just the installation and welding?

Do it yourself there are some great write ups on this site.  I did my exhaust and rejetted the carbs myself.  It's not hard at all.

Ya its a GS the only bike worthy enuff, and i live in DC. I changed alot on the bike already myself but i'm not gonna mess around with carbs. and since its goin in i might as well get em to put the exhaust in.

Isn't "carburetor" French for "Don't touch it"?  :)

I need to ease into the wrenching mentatlity.  I'm that guy who always ends up worse off whenever I try to fix anything.  I can break five things trying to fix one.

Okay, what pipe are you putting on there?  What year is your GS?  What jets are you going to?

Is it a header and pipe, or just the can?  Are you using a Srinath flange?  If so, with or without the choke plate?

Well, there are two ways to go about it.  If the bike runs well, they did it well enough.  :P

You can also open it up and check.  But if you're doing that, you might as well rejet yourself.  The "opening up" is where all of the difficulty is.  The jet swap is trivial.

JetSwing

why is it costing you $400? have you already paid them? give us more detail of you situation so we can answer you better.

I think the going rate at a shop is something like $200 for rejetting - that's all going to the labor to pull the carbs out.

Seriously, it is so worth it to do it yourself.

so you're saying they're charging him $400 just for rejetting??

Rejetting and exhaust.  So $200 apiece, more or less.  It's what a shop will charge you, and you can do it for much less.

I bumped the mains one on my '04 with exhaust, and it ran great.  I even have a dyno for that setup - nice smooth curve.  You could probably get another horsepower if you wanted to muck with it more, but it still got mid-60s mileage - just a little less cold-blooded.  I'd call that a good upgrade.
