Anyone have suggestions for the lowest quote?  Assuming one has a clean record?

Thanks.

If you can find a local independent insurance agent, they can search through their database with your stats and find you the best price...

Some insurance companies have pretty odd requirements and discounts.

stay away from progressive!

try AAA (roadside assistance people-I have them for insurance).

everyone locally swears by State Farm as well.

AAA $130 a year for liability only.

dionysus

AAA wont insure you unless you've been riding 3+ years, or have a car insured with them (at least, so they tell me).

They're good for auto in WA...

I'd avoid GMAC 'cause they don't like spending money on ANYTHING...  And they're rude.

well, I have my cars insured through them, but I insured my gs500 when I started riding...cost $320/yr full coverage, or thereabouts.

Progressive sucks for motorcycles in SoCal. They lowball you then raise your rates. I've heard this story over and over from people at socalsportbikes.com

Yup.  Doinysus is right.  3+ riding experience unless you've got your car through them, and they told me straight up that since my current car insurance company, Wawanesa, is by far the most competitive in terms of price, it wouldn't make sense to switch my car insurance to AAA just to get motorcycle insurance through them.

Thanks for the advice!

One last question.  How important do you think it is to get coverage for uninsured drivers in Southern California.  Not only am I a new rider, but a newcomer to SoCal!

Liability only or liability with coverage for uninsured drivers?

Thanks!

Had an insurance agency do my searching for me. With 0 years experience behind me and a clean driving record, I had my GS insured with liability only for $101/year. Not bad at all if you ask me. :thumb:

uninsured drivers should be mandatory down here.

kimo3825

unisure motorists is not mandatory here. you have to sign a waiver though.

for AAA not insuring you till you had 3+ years of riding. just tell them a year or the same date you got on you licsence. at least in california. insurance companys cann't see when you got it.

davekim49  does wawanesa insure motors? i'm about to switch to them.

took over 7 years to get a clean driving record. thankfully the last 3 years i have been oversees about 2 of those. that helped out alot and popo not showing up in court. how long did it you all of you do to the same?

worth having! there are plenty of uninsured motorists around. you dont want to fall victim to them.
