This thing's driving me nuts, gonna try shimmin' the needles.
Do I have to buy a whole jet kit, or can they be found elsewhere?

thanks,

What size washers do the 2001-up GS500's take? I've heard differing opinions from everyone about #3, #4, 3mm, and 4mm washers. Which ones do I need and how many should I put under the needle?

My setup:

2001 GS500
Vance and Hines Supersport Exhaust
K&N Lunchbox Filter
147.5/67.5/20 Jets
Bob B Ignition Advancer

Posted here so I wouldn't have to start ANOTHER carb related thread!

for the record, 3mm washer is exact same size as one already in there. having said that you may still use #4 if you don't have any problem with the fit.

i just got done with my 2001. i put only one 3mm washer. it runs like a butter.

Well I took out my needle and it was like this:

There was c-clip one washer on top of it, under the c-clip was a plastic donut, and under that was a washer.

Where do I put the washers that I bought? A picture would be GREAT. Plus, when I tried to put the washers in under the existing washers it wouldn't let me push the top plastic part in that hold the needle in place.

Any info would be great.

Plus, when I do put the washers in, the needle doesn't spring up and down like it did when I first took it out. Is this normal?

i put the washer in between the plastic dounut and the bottom washer.

the needle should have smooth movement...
