Mmmm.  That's nice...I still think I like the matching rims on the blue, though.

I'm glad I got my bike before the new colors came out, I don't care for either. I think I would have gone with a different bike completely.

Sweet, and and my black/gray A* Spinner jacket will match the paint    Only question is when Suzuki will release the SV's to the dealers :dunno:   I think the '05 GS's were rolled out late March, early April

Hmm, the 06 choices are tough...

GSXR 600 vs R6. I'm leaning toward the R6- fly by wire throttle and 17500RPM redline. The GSXR does look really sweet though...

That sounds about as redundant as saying Katanas are fugly.  ;)

Katanas:  made for people too insecure to get a GS, but too timid to get a gixxer.

If I got a Katana the first thing I'd do before riding it would be to strip the fairings off and put a headlight on. Seriously. That is just fat-hooker ugly. I don't see why Suzuki hasn't changed the looks. All the other companies' "step-down sportbike", the ZZR600, YZF600R, and CBR600F4i, look very similar to the more sporting counterparts.

Hrm...I wouldn't have thought the F4i was considered a "step down"...do you mean from the 600RR?  I thought the main difference between the F4i and the RR was the styling (no undertail exhaust), and a slightly reduced redline.  The weight, CG, and power are otherwise pretty similar, no?  Unlike the GSX-R and the Katana, which are completely different beasts.

Of course, I am speaking from a strong position of ignorance...but I thought Honda's target with the F4i was different than Suzuki's with the Katana.

Anyway...I usually see a Katana in the parking lot at the office...it looks like a childs drawing of a sportbike.

I dind't see the specs of the new 06 gs500f, but is there any difference from the 05s? or just the color. thanks.

Its settled. Im getting a red/black gsxr 750. I was going to get me a sv1000s. But i honestly hate those colours. And i dont like to buy used bikes. Silver is too plane IMO and the turquoise, lol, wtf?

Eh, Honda's position with the F4i is very similar to that of Suzuki with the Katana. The F4i has a more relaxed riding position (still sporty, but not AS sporty as the 600RR) and the engine is tuned for more midrange torque, less high end power.

Interesting.  Never sat on either the F4i or the RR, and wasn't aware of the posture difference.  I never quite categorized it in the same category as the Katana, mostly becuase the Katana looks too much like you're riding a water buffalo.  ;)  At least the CBR looks nice.

Alphamazing

Exactly. The CBR600F4i is a very nice looking bike. The ZZR600 even more so. The YZF600R is just below the Kawi, in my book. The Katana is just so dated and horrendously ugly that most people don't group it with the others. The step-down bikes have all had fairly recent revisions and updates to styling and performance, most notably the Kawi ZZR, as it was all new for '05.

If Suzuki updated the Katana's styling and made it more of a demi-Gixxer it could most likely be a fair contender in the step-down sportbike category. From what I understand the motor in it is sturdy, powerful, and as reliable as the GS.

The new GSX-R body/colors are nice.. specially that red/black 600.  But I def like the '05 colors of the GS's more than the '04 and '06.

stefman722

Exactly, if the 750 katana was better looking, there is no reason why i wouldnt buy it.
