Its winter here...time for mods

So, since I'm away at school and my gs has been stored away already, its time for some major mods. Merry Christmas to me. I want a sportier look/feel and sound. So basically what I'm looking to do:

exhaust (I have to do this, the stock exhaust that came with my bike is packed full of marvel mystery oil from the dipshit that had it before me and messing with how its running)
carb rebuild/rejetting
progressives
15t sprocket
fenderectomy
pod airfilter (also need to do this)
directionals
mirrors
belly pan
I'd like to put a windshield/change out the headlight
shock replacement
Complete paint job to blue with custom graphics

I'm not afraid of welding and I'm very good friends with a machinist with a crap load of equipment in his basement. So any suggestions? Right now I'm looking at a carbon V+H can from a buell S3 although, I'm very open to suggestions. Any ideas? Parts you decided you didn't want? Things you think would be cool? I've got months, and ingenious people who can pretty much make anything work. Let me have it!

You're stored for the winter already?  I'm in Albany and I rode to work today.  I don't expect to park until mid-November.

My Name Is Dave

You could use the time to think of a new name. Possibly one that doesn't make me want a delicious pastrami sammich.

They have some great parts for the GS there, uncluding belly pans (my next investment) and fairings. I'm wondering what kind and colour of graphics you plan on putting on the GS? I'm considering touching up the paint on my GS this winter and putting some original looking vinyl decals on there for the spring,

I'm away at school, couldn't take it with me and won't be home until Thanksgiving so my riding season was up in late August  :(

I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do yet. No vinyl though. Anything I do will be 100% paint. I know I'm going with blue, black, white, and silver all with pearl, to match my gear but not sure what the graphics will be just yet. Sid Jones is doing my custom paint. Chuck you might of heard of him he does amazing work on bikes and classic cars, and just happens to be my Uncle. He'll probably end up drawing something out for me.

Hey where in the albany area are you guys?  I grew up in Ballston Spa, NY.. and just graduated college, so i moved from there to williamsport PA for a job about 6 months ago.  Albany/Saratoga area is so much nicer.. but PA has some nice roads for my new GS!

That site has some cool turn signals, but they are really expensive!

Onlypastrana199

I'm about 15 minutes north of Troy, so not too far from Albany

I unfourtunately don't have the connections, money or personal skill to paint anything on my bike other than a base colour  :dunno:  The vinyl decals will turn out pretty decent though me thinks. Being a Nova Scotian I decided to utilize the style of drawing found in coats of arms to create a lion design for each side of the tank and maybe something for the rear fairing. Get one of my photoshop proficient friends to colour it up in the Suzuki dark and light greys then print it off and stick it on. Haven't seen anything like it myself.

You shoulda been checking out the boards earlier. I was selling a full Yoshimura exhaust system. You should install Buell turn signals, as they are far more attractive than the stock ones. Kat shocks can be found on eBay for $15-$30. Do a DIY rejet, there is plenty of information on the boards.

If you go with pod filters you will lose a shaZam! load of bottom end, just so you know. If you do a filter, do a drop-in.

Napolean bar end mirrors are hot, and an F-16 or F-18 windshield are common accessories. I personally like the Ducati monster bikini fairings better though.

I don't think so. From what I understand pod filters take out your bottom end power and add more to the top.

HERE IN AUSTRALIA ITS MAINLY THE HARLEY RIDERS WHO PARK FOR WINTER.
:? THE WAY I SEE IT , I'D RATHER RIDE A BIKE IN THE RAIN THAN DRIVE A CAR IN THE SUN. THE ONLY TIME ITS OK TO DRIVE A CAR IS TAKING DIRTBIKES CAMPING OR PICKING UP PARTS FOR BIKES THAT ARE TO BIG TO CARRY ON SAID BIKE.

THE GS IS IT FOR ME. NO CAR.
WELL THATS MY SPEAKING CRAP SESSION.

HOW ABOUT SOME CLIP ON HANDLE BARS ?
I HAVE FOUND THEY MAKE THE GS A DRAEM THROUGH CORNERS.

I didn't think anyone was from around here. :)
I'm in Troy, originally from Galway.
Nice to meet a few neighbors.

Its not the rain that makes me winter, its the 6 feet of snow and ice and psychopaths who can't drive their cars in the snow that make me winter.

I didn't put a pod filter in on my bike, I was just saying what I've heard from other people.

Has anyone done a dyno run to verify that pod filters increase your bottom end?

Well jetted right ... low end will not be affected at all. The bike will rev out of the low end faster, in essense making more power. Now if you rev higher and spend more time higer up cos its better doesn't make its low end any worse ... in eefect improvement is everywhere, with the top much better and the bottom only slightly better.
Cool.
