I have a degree in EE/Computer Engineering, but have not used it a day in my life.  After a long and circuitous career, I have finally found my niche as the IT guy/VB .NET programmer for a translation company.  Good stuff... it appeals to my short attention span and good debugging/problem solving skills.

i'll keep on and get my degree, but i'm already looking to do something other than mechanical engineering, based on my previous intern/co-op jobs.  i just couldnt pass up bmw.

The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

 Better than some slummy apartment, though! Plus, you can get a job working with motorcycles far easier than you can with an EE degree.

QuoteUniversity of Cincinnati just started up its automotive design program this year, it looks to be pretty sweet. DAAP (college of design, art, architecture and planning) is one of the better schools of its kind. UC is one of the more expensive public institutions around, but it still beats out-of-state tuition anywhere.

Thanks.
Picking out a college is something I need to look into. My dad says that if I spent as much time on this site as I did looking at colleges that I would already have a scholarship  . The only other Colleges that I knew of that had car design majors in them where in San Fransisco (Acadamy of Art something...) and in Detriot ( Center for Creative Studies- but I don't really want to go to Detroit).  Since all of these colleges were so far away I almost gave up on my car designer dream but now I will try to apply at Cincinati.  :thumb:  Watch out J. Mays, here comes Mr.7

P.S: Mabey when I figure out how to work this internet thing I can post some of my drawings. If I do- remember that I am only 17 and don't be too critical for I am very fragile  :P

Yea full blown civil engineer here ... who also never worked a civil day in my life ... in reality never even intended to ... I wanted to turn into some sorta machine tool design guru ... ended up doing some number  crunching type software development for a Small firm, wandered off into DB and Unix and never looked back ...
Cool.

i hate to reccommend my rival, but for automotive-related engineering, check out clemson.  i will always regret not going there (followed slightly more scholarship to USC... big mistake).  mississippi state is really great too (i spent a semester there).  southern school tuitions are dirt cheap (msu is 4600/semester out of state, 2k/semester instate), and those two have good partnerships with big automotive companies and good co-op programs.  get a CD course and study for the SAT and get out of state waived and you're set.  both are in small towns where living expenses are dirt cheap and the atmosphere is AWESOME.  pm me if you want more info/experiences

BigTwin

I work at a motorcycle accessories store called Iron Pony and 1 day every month at Sportmart (gotta love that schedule), I also attend the local community college majoring in marketing because I can't afford to pay the crazy tuition at Ohio State.
:guns: Work full time and school full time!

Definitely want to get into the motorcycle business somehow. Gotta find the right people to get in this business though.

The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

If you use Suave shampoo or conditioner then I'm prolly the f'r that put all that cleansing and conditioning goodness in the bottle, cased and shipped it out to a distribution center for ya.  Basically my job is to service my assigned production line.  Knowing how to run all the equipment to relieve the "normal" operators for breaks/what not and making sure the lines are stocked with all the proper and correct amounts to finish an order.

The job pays well for what I should be doing, but the hours suck and atm doing the jobs of others to insure a good run while not getting paid for said others work and they still make the same as if they had for the last couple years is putting me on the fence.

My background in schooling is commercial art but I had/have an issue with the pressure of using art to please someone else's idea.  I'm no Picasso but I'm not shabby either.  But place a deadline, another person's (or persons') opinion on what it should be and I didn't function well at all.  So I basically guess I didn't pursue something I was naturally gifted at and did for fun/relaxation as a form of work.  I haven't picked up an intrument of art in close to 10 years (unless you count squirting white condition into an red colored shampoo bottle to create the effect of floating brains {I still think we can market this as a special run of Halloween shampoo + conditioner, but no one else buys my idea}).

So basically tired of my shift, tired of doing the jobs of folks that dont' do theirs' but still get paid for it while I dont, I plan do just become independantly wealthy and such.  I got $5 on this weeks powerball I'm feel'n really good about.  .. .... And I never do lottery stuff so I'm a shoe in!  That or after I watch all these get rich quick tapes I'll have a solution (but I didn't buy them becuase that would be making the makers of  the get rich quick scheme guys get rich quick).  I borrowed them so F the man, unless I'm the man.
