Got a GS this weekend. One of the first things I did was put a picture of it on Myspace.  

YUCK.. myspace.. if you guys seriously ever saw their network? man.. you would say.. "THAT PILE OF GARBAGE IS MYSPACE?!?!" .... nuts. I can tell some stories. It is the worst piece of trash I have ever worked on, and I say that with the utmost. I have worked on some real pieces of junk let me tell you, but myspace takes the cake. It is racks upon racks of microshlock IIS5, coldfusion, and MSSQL with wasted EMC units on the back end for storage. Every HP dual processor server in that thing is overheating and overloaded. They have so many servers in there (bad design by their admins), and they are so over capacity for cooling, that they can not keep enough airflow in the facility so there are box fans from target sitting on fold up chairs pointed at the servers to move the heat around.

I've never seen their network, but I still think myspace's server sucks balls.. it crashes every 10 minutes..

I got an invitation from some chick's ass in a thong to visit her webcam!

Then I got a form letter from another girl but i think it was probably for a singles club, or escort service, or at best she was just really shallow.

Then today I got a nice note from a really cute girl who I seem to have a lot in common with!

Welcome to my life.

I'm currently rewriting a site that was origionally a PHP front end to a C++ server that would call perl, python, C, tcl, bash and java programs on a cluster using a broken scheduling system that doesn't cooperate with the one that's already in place, trivial to do what he wanted with and intelligent (at least comparativly). That used BerkeleyDB's raw page access to do a linear scan because a flat file makes to much damned sence and he "didn't need to level of random access a hash db would provide". That had an SQL database where normalization was a 4 letter word (I dropped 15 tables, there's 6 now). That used SQL to store session data, because its not like PHP has a $_SESSION or anything, a cron job that would delete all sessions every hour on the hour (did a long search at 5:59? Hah!). Oh, and of course, no comments. Anywhere. 6k lines of C++, 6k lines of PHP not one single damned comment.

Yeah.. Now its Python... written in less than 1/2 the time, 1/2 the code. Using docstring...
