well I finnaly got my gs on the road, and so far it seems to be pretty good. I was rideing a 1975 honda cb400f before and this is a big difference. well obviously considering the gs is 18 years newer.
I was worried that the vibration was going to be really bad, but I've been on some good 45min rides and it seems to be fine. and thats with the heavy stock mirrors and bar ends removed.
The extra power has already got me out of trouble twice, and I've only been riding the thing for 3 days. first an suv decides to quickly change lanes as I was coming up on him to his right, I just ripped back the throttle and blew past him, and the second time was the same thing, but with a car. how can people not see me? the bike is fu<king bright red.  :x I think its because the gs is so dam quiet. I took the bafold out of my last bike and the thing could wake the dead, stock gs pipe is the first thing on the chopping block. :)
I scared myself really bad on the thing by letting go of the bars, bad idea. It started to get horrible head shake, if I had grabed the bars one second later it woulda been a tank slapper. :o  do all gs's do this? my front tire is "maginal" is that why it happend? I guess the only fix is a steering damper, or stop being an idiot and letting go of the bars...
the one other thing I noticed is that when leaning over the gs in a corner, it seems to want to go all or nothing. it will either go right into an extreme lean angle, or want to stay up right. again, are all gs's like that? I think they guy who owned the bike before me was a bit of a stunter because when I got the bike the clutch was burnt out, and the rear tire was nice and square. so I'm thinking the square tire is my problem. still plenty of tread left on the back, so I'm hesatant to get a new one. will the square tire round out if I keep ridding it?

You've got to ride a lot of twisties in order to round out a tire like that... pretty much only track laps will do it.  So, you're looking at a new set of tires, but that is good, since who knows how old the last ones are!  Get a good set of BT45's, Sport Demons, or Avons...

As for head shake, that usually happens on bikes with a great deal more power.  If the previous owner was a stunter, might want to check the bearings in the steering head for play.  Dunno, I get head shake only when riding a bicycle cause the weight distribution is all on the back wheel

You need new tires.  I would guess front and back.

When I needed new tires, I had similar issues...  wonky-wiggly stearing and a "ledge" lean.  Meaning... Push... Push... OVER.  Wasn't good.

New tires are friggen SWEET!  So... Get some.

If you still have stearing issues after the new tires it could be some replacement parts are in order.

Oh and...

tire pressure, rear wheel alignment, front wheel allignment, forkbrace bent, fork tubes uneven, wheel bearings, twisted frame.forksprings collapsing, lack of fork oil, swingarm bushings shot, bent fork/s, tweaked fork clamps.  pick one or afew. work with the simplest to the most expensive and your likly to find it really quick.

most my bikes seem to be Tire pressres are low, and alignments.
