I've searched through the posts and read that fitting a 01+ gas tank to 1989-2000 bike is tricky.  I'd like to go the other way and fit an 1989-2000 gas tank to my 01.  Is that simple?

Or if anyone's sellin' an 01 gas tank ....

i would think it would be just as tricky...but try to find a 01+ tank. it looks much better than the predecessor.

89-00 tank on 01+ bike is a direct bolt on ... no problem at all ... You have 2 grommet carriers in the 89-00 tank that you'd leave un used ... it may look a little weird ... or you can cut that off and smooth it off and it be fine. But angular tank and rounded body ... may look off ...
